NORMAN, OK. — Well it’s about time!!! Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley did what Bob Stoops should have done years ago and that’s to fire Mike Stoops. On Saturday the Sooners loss to their long time rival, the Texas Longhorns, in the Red River Rivalry/Showdown/Shootout whichever you feel like using because they change the darn name what seems like every year. Either way, I’m glad to see that the 2nd year head coach at the University of Texas at Norman had the gonads to pull the trigger on making a change at defensive coordinator.
You know that’s what they call OU in Texas because so many kids from the Lone Star State have crossed the Red River to play for the Sooners. So this bad blood runs deep. When the Sooners walked into the joint undefeated averaging 48 points per game on Saturday. The expectation is that if they score like they always do they should win right? Wrong? They scored 45 points but gave up 48 which is the largest point total ever given up by the Sooners in this rivalry that dates back to the year 1900!!! That’s NUTS!!!!
Mike Stoops came in with his brother Bob in 1999 and hung around until 2003 when he left for the head coaching job at Arizona. He came back in 2012 as the D-coordinator and the defense has been atrocious ever since. The Sooners have had one of the best offenses in the country EVERY year but they always lose big ball games because the defense can’t tackle a one legged penguin with footies on.
It’s ridiculous that the offense is so potent every year but the defense is bound to fail them in big ball games. They had Georgia on the ropes bleeding from the mouth last year in the College Football Playoff Semifinal and they loss. They scored 48 points and loss the freakin’ game!!! Why? Because they gave up 54 points to a team that primarily runs the darn football. That was the most points Georgia had scored ALL freakin’ year!! They only scored 53 on dull Mizzou. Bruh…Georgia only put up 42 on Samford. SAMFORD!!!!!
Mike Stoops should have been fired after that game if nothing else!!! The Sooners hadn’t given up more than 27 points in their first four ball games this season. However, the wheels started to fall off when they gave up 33 in a win over Baylor two weeks ago. Then it completely unraveled in Dallas over the weekend against Texas giving up over 501 total yards of offense.
Bob knew that his brother wasn’t getting the job done but he held on to him anyway. Now there’s a new sheriff in town and his name is Lincoln Riley and he AIN’T PUUTIN’ UP WITH THAT FOOLISHNESS!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!
