Ohio State Women knock off Minnesota to advance to the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game!

INDIANAPOLIS, IN- Stephanie Mavunga scored 26 points adding 21 rebounds and 7 blocks to help lead No. 1 the Ohio State Women’s basketball team to a 90-88 win over Minnesota.

OSU started the game on a 10-3 run with six points coming from senior Kelsey Mitchell. She  finished the game with 30 points and nine assists.

Minnesota shot 40 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc ending the period on a 19 to 4 run and a lead by 10 points. Carlie Wagner had 19 points in that quarter finishing the game with 26 points. Midway through the second quarter the Buckeyes went on a 10-2 run ending the half with the lead by one 51-50

Out of halftime both teams went blow for blow as there were 4 lead changes putting the lead change counter at 13 for the game.

Ohio State’s defense was key in the fourth quarter. Mavunga had two key blocks within the last 30 seconds of the game. During that time OSU went on a 11- 0 run which helped the ladies Buckeyes soar to the win.

Mavunga and Mitchell had 56 of OSU’s points while the team shot 44 percent for the game. Mavunga’s 21 rebounds and 7 blocks is a Big Ten tournament record.

Ohio State will play Maryland on Sunday in the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game Sunday on ESPN2 at 7pm.
