North Central’s Kevin O’Shea didn’t waste ANY time building a winner! “Chinchilla”

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — The 2019 high school football regular season ends tonight with boyz looking forward to the playoffs starting next week. However, the Class 6A cats don’t kick off the playoffs until the following week because they all have a bye. I’ve been covering the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference better known in these athletic streets as the M.I.C. for the past three seasons. It’s traditionally known as the best conference in the state because every year from top to botton it’s represents.

It’s like growing up in the hood. If you can survive there you can survive anywhere. So if you can win in the M.I.C. you can win anywhere. Book it.

Three seasons ago the North Central Panthers hired Lafayette Central Catholic’s Kevin O’Shea to become their new head football coach because the program was in shambles. In nine seasons at Central Catholic he went 114-10 and won five Class A state championships. You didn’t read that wrong playa. He won five Class A titles in nine years. Wheredeydodatat? And please don’t give me that, “He wasn’t playin’ anybody crap.” Winnin’ is winnin’ bruh!!

So when he took over at NC I told you cats that it wouldn’t be long before the Panthers would be winning. Well playas…if they finish off Ben Davis this evening they’ll win the M.I.C. Championship outright in just O’Shea’s third season at the helm. That’s NUTS!!! They’ve only loss one game this year in the M.I.C. and that was to Warren Central. However, the Warriors have loss two games in conference play. So all the Panthers need to do it win tonight and it’s a wrap.

Everybody and their Uncle LeRoy always wants to know why I call him Chinchilla O’Shea? Well playas…he’s got crazy swag on the sideline, so much so, that he could literally be out there in a Chinchilla hat, coat and boots and no one would ever notice. Ole boy gets it done and I know that the folks at North Central can appreciate it.

He took over a program that was in the toilet just three seasons ago. As a matter of fact, he took over a program that hadn’t seen a winning season in forever. Two seasons before he got there they were 0-10 and 1-9. In his first year with the Panthers they improved to 3-8 and last season they battled the eventual Class 6A State Champs, Warren Central, to a nose bleed fight in the regional game.

He led North Central to it’s first Sectional Title since 1993 in just his second year going 9-3!! That’s NUTS!!! Now he’s about to win the darn conference championship. Incredible!!!

Go on and give that man his props and when you see him on the street give him a pound and keep it movin’. Chinchilla O’Shea is a helluva coach and the kids and North Central deserve every bit of it. Stop me when I start lyin’!
