INDIANAPOLIS, IN. — The defendin’ Class 6A state champs were lookin’ to bounce back from a tough loss last week at Avon. So they shook off the dust and refocused this week to go on the road to Pike to handle their business. When the smoke cleared early in the second half it was obvious that the Giants had recaptured their swagger. By the time the joint was over they’d beaten the Pike Red Devils 40-19 had all sneakers and jewelry in hand and walkin’ out of the joint.

However, they weren’t able to get out of the joint without problems though. With 4:18 left in the game Ben Davis linebacker Jimmy Filsaime was blind sided, went down and had to be transported to an area hospital by ambulance. Now praise God that he had feeling in his extremities. There was tingling in his neck and hands but the ambulance was purely cautionary.

Sometimes we all forget just how dangerous this game can actually be. So the Young Thunder Cat will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Gettin’ back to the ball game, Ben Davis’ Delbert Mimms was a man among boyz out there Friday night. He got off of the bus runnin’ bruh and the last I saw him he was darn near to Louisville. At one point he popped a 71 yarder for a touchdown down the middle of the field completely untouched!! You could have literally driven a Range Rover through some of the holes the Giants offensive line were openin’ for him. Ole boy finished with 211 yards.

When I spoke to Coach Jason Simmons after the ball game he said, “For us it starts up front. Our offensive line took pride in being the most physical unit on the field tonight and that showed up.” Here’s more:

Early on it was a ball game with each team tradin’ touchdowns. At the end of the first quarter Ben Davis was only up 11-6. About midway through the second quarter with BD up 17-12 Pike’s Johnny Milledge intercepted a Trent Gipson pass and went towards the house only to get run down inside the 10 yard line.

Delbert Mimms stretchin’ out for a touchdown!!!

The Giants defense kept them from takin’ the lead and at that point the wheels completely came off for Pike. Combined with a field full of penalty flags all night the momentum shifted after BD’s defensive stand. At the break 6th ranked Giants were up 26-12.

By the time boyz bit into their hot dogs in the second half Ben Davis was up 40-12 and it was a wrap. The story of the night was Delbert Mimms doin’ work like he usually does. The Vanderbilt recruit is havin’ a great season thus far.

Ben Davis improves to 2-1 as Center Grove comes callin’ next week after knockin’ off No.3 Carmel on Friday night. Pike travels to Carmel. It was a great Friday night around the M.I.C. as well. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Other M.I.C. scores from Week 3:

No.1 Warren Central 58 vs. No.8 North Central 27

No.3 Carmel 7 vs. Center Grove 17

Lawrence North 14 vs. Lawrence Central 20

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Put it where the goats can get it: verb phrase – to make it as elementary as possible. To put it at ground level so everyone can understand it.

3) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
