No.1 Warren Central jumps out of the Big Body Chevy and goes to work on No.3 Ben Davis!

THE FAR WEST SIDE — Everybody and their old Uncle LeRoy wanted to see the two previous Class 4A State Champs bump heads on the west side on Friday night. No.1 Warren Central was riding a 35 game winning streak into the joint as No.3 Ben Davis came in 6-0. So somebody’s zero had to go. It didn’t take but 2 minutes to figure out which one was going to take the “L.” Boyz found out real quick why the homies from the FAR EAST SIDE are the defending state champs as they steamrolled Ben Davis 66-47.

Warren pulled up in the black and gold Big Body Chevy and came out of the ride shooting that thang. They unloaded 3-pointers so fast that Ben Davis immediately became discombobulated. Okay, in my hood vernacular, “they were shook!!” Warren Central’s Jakobie Robinson hit 4 straight 3-pointers to start the game to put the Warriors up 12-2 after starting on a 9-0 run.

They came out trapping and being the aggressor from the word go. They were so quick on defense that it was unsettling for the Giants.

At the end of first quarter Warren Central was in complete control up 15-4. Ben Davis was still trying to get out of the ride but the cats from the FAR EAST SIDE kept shootin’ that thang that kept them on their heels. BD, at times, couldn’t even get the ball up court because of the excellent trapping Criss Beyers’ squad was doing.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Warren had an excellent game plan. They pulled BD’s big man, Dawand Jones, out on the perimeter all night and made him chase smaller more elusive guys. The crazy thing is, he’s so athletic that he was able to keep up with them but that tired him out on the offensive end. So therefore, he had to take more breaks than usual.
By the time they got settled enough on the offensive end where they could feed him it was mid-way through the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the Giants had been beaten in the first two minutes of the games. They never seemed to be able to shake those 4 three pointers that Jakobie hit them with to start the game. It had, to a large degree, a lasting effect on them all night long.
What else can I say about Warren’s effort on both side of the ball? They were just as impressive shooting the rock as they were on defense. They looked every bit of the defending state champs riding a 35 now 36 game winning streak led by Jakobie Robinson’s 20 points followed by Jesse Bingham’s 16 and Isiah Moore’s 10. Don’t sleep on Manuel Brown though. This kid played some crazy defense and had command of the floor as a leader. Warren will be a tough out this year bruh and they don’t even have David Bell yet. That’s NUTS!!!!
Dawand Jones led the Giants with 19 as Jalen Windham dropped off 14. Warren Central was just way too much for Ben Davis on Friday night. Stop me when I start lyin’!
