MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA — When the smoke finally cleared in Miami. The Kansas City Chiefs were walking out of Hard Rock Stadium with the Vince Lombardi Trophy. They scored 21 unanswered points to win Super Bowl LIV 31-20.

Patrick Mahomes and Co. were bottled up all night and just couldn’t get going. In the previous two playoff games they stumbled out of the gate down 24-0 and 17-7 both in the first half. On Sunday they at least were knotted up at 10-10.

However, they went down 20-10 late in the third quarter and boyz started to wonder if they had the MOJO to come from behind this time. Boyz, as in the fans and the media. According to Mahomes, they never doubted themselves.

“We never lost faith,” the 24-year old quarterback said. “That’s the biggest thing. Everybody on this team, no one had their head down. We believed in each other. That’s what we preached all year long.”

Well…we all saw Tyrann Mathieu snap on his teammates after they gave up the final touchdown to the 49ers to go down 10 points. After that it was Chris Brown up in that piece “On and Poppin'” for the Chiefs’ offense and their defense held tight giving up nothing else.

They were still down 20-10 with 9:00 left to play when Andy Reid and Co. decided that the “Hurry Up” offense was needed if they were going to get back into this game.

They scored 21 straight points in the final 6:13 to put the 49ers away.

It was the Chiefs first Super Bowl Championship in 50 years. That’s NUTS! It was also Andy Reid’s first championship ever. He was the winningest coach in the league to have never won a title. Now he can go somewhere and sit down. I know I would. More than two decades of coaching and it finally came. Yep it’s time to ride off into the sunset playa.

Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP after finishing with 286 yards and 2 TD’s along with 2 interceptions. You already know that the winning quarterback will 90 percent of the time win the MVP in the Super Bowl. However, Mahomes deserved it for not panicking being down 10 points late.

Congrats Chiefs on a job well down. Boy I can’t believe football season is over. And by the way, I thought the halftime show was lame. Pitbull would have been a much better show. I’m just sayin’!
