Lakers give Pelinka promotion and extension for proving he was all in. Magic was just frontin’. “I Ain’t Mad”

On Friday the Lakers announced that GM Rob Pelinka agreed to a multiyear contract extension. Not only did they extend his deal but they promoted him to the VP title. His original contract in 2017, when he came in under Magic Johnson, who was the president of the organization at the time, was five years.

Ole boy has done work and the proof is in the pudding. In successive off-seasons he’s acquired two franchise altering superstars in LeBron and Anthony Davis. He swooped up legit role players in Dwight Howard and Danny Green and he hired ole Frank Vogel who is managing the situation quite nicely.

It doesn’t hurt that the Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference right now. Yeah, I’d say that he’s done enough work to deserve the extension, the promotion, and the bread.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Ole Magic is sitting somewhere looking silly because he tried to playa-hate Pelinka when he got called out for not working. Duns like Pelinka was actually trying to work and Magic wasn’t.

Y’all remember all of the joints I wrote during that foolishness when Magic was on First Take hamming it up with Stephen A. Smith who wouldn’t jam him up. He was hollering that Pelinka was stabbing him in his back when Magic literally wasn’t trying to work. I would be pissed if the rest of the front office is working to turn the ship around and Magic’s out goofing off.

Whatever he was doing he wasn’t working for the Lakers. I get that he’s got other businesses going on etc. But the folks supposedly working for him with the Lakers don’t care about what else he had going on. He shouldn’t have taken the job if he couldn’t do it. Being the president of an NBA franchise isn’t a part-time job playa.

When they would have meetings everyone would show up but Magic. He’s out on vacation somewhere and they’re supposed to be putting a team and organization back together.

I told y’all when he took the job that he wasn’t trying to work just like I told you that Phil Jackson wasn’t trying to work for the Knicks. He just wanted to title and props for being there. Being a front office executive is a 17 to 18 hour a day job. Magic just wanted to kiss babies and shake hands. Pelinka and Co. were trying to work.

It’s funny how that all works out isn’t it? If Magic was really interested in doing the job he’d still be there. If he were really interested in shaping the organization he would have been at work and boyz wouldn’t have to say that he wasn’t. I’m not mad at Pelinka at all calling Magic out, taking ownership and getting the job done. Stop me when I start lyin’!
