Kyrie is still won’t get vaccinated even though the Nets desperately need him. “Cake”

We’ve questioned Kyrie Irving’s thinking on a plethora of topics including his arguing that the earth was flat. He’s since left his team hanging on multiple occasions. His latest is his resistance to getting vaccinated as the team struggles to put a roster of players on the floor during this Omicron crisis.

He’s currently playing part-time for the Nets because they were so desperate to field a team that they are allowing him to play in road games only. The city of New York won’t allow him to play in home games because of the vaccine mandate in place in those arenas.

Now that Kevin Durant is out for four to six week with a knee injury. The Nets are definitely struggling. So Kyrie was asked after Brooklyn’s 114-107 loss in Cleveland on Monday would he now consider getting vaccinated now that his team needed him even more. He remained rooted in his stance not to get vaccinated and then went into a this long drawn out explanation about his personal life and basketball being separate.

“You’re bringing my vaccination status into a basketball game, and I live my life, the majority of the time, when I’m away from this. So when I say I’m not getting vaccinated and I’m making a choice with my life, somehow it gets mixed into, ‘Well, what about the basketball?’ When it’s like no, bro. We live in a real world. It’s great to be able to do this. I’m grateful for the opportunity. I love being with my teammates. I love playing on the Nets, but I’ve already been away enough time to think about this, to process it, to be able to make this decision, stand strong, understand that people are gonna agree and some people are gonna disagree.

“The circumstances that are at hand, I’m praying that they get changed and we’re able to do things differently and that’s not just for me — that’s for all those that are dealing with being unvaccinated and getting fired from work on a day-to-day basis. It’s not just about me. That’s been my message this whole time. So though I feel your feeling and emotion for asking that question, it’s just like, sometimes it feels a little disrespectful. I’m not just a basketball player, bro. Millions of fans. I appreciate all of it, but it’s not just about the game.”

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! That would be great if he was independently wealthy because his ancestors made a fortune in the oil business and he didn’t have a job. However, his job is to play basketball for the Brooklyn Nets. A job that he signed a contract to play. A job that requires him to be at work. He’s not at work half of the time. His job, basketball, is his life.

Therefore, to try to separate the two is asinine. And for all of the people that keep screaming that they shouldn’t participate in helping to get rid of COVID. It’s called being irresponsible. If you wanted to eat the rotten cookie that only made you sick that would be fine. However, the rotten cookie that you keep gambling with is getting folks sick and killing others.

The only reason Kyrie is getting to do both is because he’s got a talent that very few people possess and at some point that won’t be good enough. Stop me when I start lyin’!
