INDIANAPOLIS, IN- Indiana (17-13, 10-7 Big Ten) women’s basketball team defeated Michigan State 111-109 in a game that will go down as the longest game played in Big Ten Tournament history. Leading the Cream and Crimson was senior forward Amanda Cahill scoring a game and career high 38 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. That was also the second most points scored in a Big Ten Tournament game.

The Hoosiers led the way for the entire first half getting to the break up 47-37.  Senior Tyra Buss dropped 10 of her 24 points in the first half as she finished with 8 assists, and 8 rebounds. IU shot 50 percent from three and 48 percent from the field.

Things changed in the second half as Michigan State took their first lead of the game 66-65, after two made free throws from Shay Colley, with 4:18 left in the game. Colley had 27 points and 6 rebounds for the Spartans, while Taryn McCucheon added 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The Spartans had a chance to win it twice; once at the end of regulation but missed a layup and in the second overtime as Shay Colley hit a fall away layup to win the game. The officials reviewed it and called it no good because the game clock somehow was stopped with 2.5 seconds left which made the basket no good.

The game came down to two made free-throws from IU senior Amanda Cahill to go up 2. Then there was a missed jumper from MSU and the game was finally over.

The 111 points scored and the 43 field goals made by Indiana are Big Ten Tournament single game records.

Indiana advances to play Maryland at 6:30 pm on Friday.
