What goes around comes around, and karma kicks us all in the butt in the end of the day.” Cesar Chavez, the civil rights activist, gave it to us like this, “Preservation of one’s own culture does not require contempt or disrespect for other cultures.” Then Hope Solo walked up on a boy and landed a one-two punch figuratively when she spit, “You’re not going to be liked by everybody when you speak the truth. I don’t speak the truth to put people down; I don’t speak the truth to show disrespect.”
Well playas…I’m cool with boyz not likin’ me too if what I say is the truth. My intent is never to show disrespect when I break these Hot Joints down. However, I can’t hold it another day bruh. Everybody and their baby’s momma’s momma, Ms. Jackson, have been consumed with the World Series because there are two teams that haven’t been in the Fall Classic in a life-time. The Cubs haven’t won a title in 108 years and the Indians haven’t tasted victory since 1948. Great story lines on both ends makes for an interestin’ World Series.
However, what drives me crazy is how NOBODY cares that Cleveland shows up every night with a caricature of the Native American people on their darn uniforms cheesin’.
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! With all of the fuss that has been made over the years about not usin’ Indians as mascots boyz still have the audacity to keep doin’ it. It’s shameful that Americans would do it in the first place but I’m not surprised understandin’ this country history of racism.
Earlier this year ESPN’s Bomoni Jones wore a T-shirt on air with the same exact logo but the dun cheesin’ was a Caucasian and social media went NUTS! They were callin’ him all kinds of disrespectful son of so and so’s and N-words etc. Now if people were outraged by seein’ themselves as a freakin’ cheesin’ mascot then why wouldn’t Native Americans feel the same way?
This country is no longer lilly white bruh, run by old white men. People of all colors, nationalities, creeds, sexual orientations etc. live here and have a right to do so. They hold all types state, local and federal offices with all kinds of degrees too. Just because you don’t see Native Americans in your daily walk doesn’t mean that they don’t exist.
Most people in America could care less about how Native Americans feel, especially if they live in the Midwest or on the East or West Coast, because they can live their entire lives without ever meetin’ one. Most Native Americans live on reservations, not by their choice initially, in the Southwestern portion of the United States. So because duns don’t run into them daily they don’t care that the Cleveland Indians or the Washington Redskins are makin’ fun of an entire group of people by usin’ them like a lion, tiger or bear. A darn mascot! And that’s the edited version!
What if they changed Cleveland’s mascot to the Caucasians for tonight’s game bruh? Boyz would be HOT!!! You can’t have a team named the New Jersey Negroes, the St. Louis Slaves, the Michigan Migets, the Kansas City Caucasians, the Texas Mexicans or the San Francisco Gays with some ignorant caricature on the uniform. People would go crazy!! Why? Because it’s disrespectful and IGNORANT!!! So why wouldn’t you think that Native Americans don’t feel some type of way about lookin’ at themselves on the sleeve of the dun playin’ a stupid game.
I’m ashamed that I’m the only cat upset about it. I can’t watch a game without bein’ fired up that people don’t care that they’re makin’ fun of an ENTIRE culture of people. And the MOST ignorant of people will say that “I’m tired of the political correctness of today. You can’t say what you used to say anymore because people will call you a racist.”
You are a racist bruh!! If what you say or do offends people based on race then it’s racist. Just because you could say or do it 50 years ago or even 10 years ago doesn’t mean that it wasn’t racist then. Now you’re bein’ held accountable for bein’ ignorant because you and yours (people that think like you do) aren’t the only people in charge of the rules.
This is becomin’ a truly diverse country now where all types of people are holdin’ positions of power and you can’t make fun of different cultures and think that it’s okay. So for that reason I’m ridin’ with the Cubs. I can’t support ignorance even if Cleveland winnin’ another championship this year would be pretty cool after not winnin’ a sports titles in 52 years. Stop me when I start lyin’.
