NASHVILLE, TN — Despite needing offseason surgery on both knees Purdue’s Broc Thompson was the next man up for the Boilermakers. With All-American David Bell out for the Music City Bowl in preparation for the upcoming NFL Draft. It was showtime for the kid better known as “@Can’tGuardBroc” in the Twitterverse.

Before I go any further, let me remind you guys that they both are from Indianapolis. Proceed…

When the dust finally settled in Nashville the Boilermakers were walking out of the joint with a 48-35 win over the Tennessee Volunteers. Thompson EARNED Music City Bowl MVP after catching 7 passes for a whooping 217 yards. It was the most bowl receiving yards in school history!!!! That’s NUTS!!!

But who from the Ben Davis community on the west side of Indy was surprised at what Broc was able to accomplish on Thursday evening when given the keys to the Bentley? NOBODY!

Broc’s been doin’ this since he started playing little league ball and into high school. I covered him in high school when the Giants won the 2017 Indiana Class 6A state title and he was a monster then.

I wrote an article on October 9, 2017 calling him the MOST COMPLETE wide receiver in the M.I.C. in one of the best conferences in the country. Here’s an excerpt:

“He’s 6’2″ and probably weighs a buck-o-5 with a brick in his pocket with cement shoes on but he’s as tough as nails. There’s a lot of talent out here but Broc is the only cat that fights for the football on every target his way. When the ball is in the air he goes after it. Not only does he fight for the ball he fights for the position for the ball.

Well playas…he runs routes like he was born to do it. I haven’t seen a kid be as disciplined runnin’ routes and goin’ after the football as this young thunder cat.

In order to be an excellent wide receiver you’ve got to have great body control too. What I mean by that is that when he goes up for the football he’s in complete control of his body. There aren’t too many people that can do that bruh, well, at the high school level. Those that do, typically go on to play big time college football.

It’s more than just catching the rock and making plays after the catch. It’s about all of the things that go on before you actually catch it. Lastly, he blocks when he doesn’t have the football in his hands.  He’s the complete package playboy and whoever is lucky enough to sign him will get the real deal. Science!!! “

Everything I said back in 2017 we saw at the Music City Bowl on Thursday. Except for the fact that he’s no long a Buck-0-5. He’s a full $2.00 now and as strong as a bull. He fought for position for the ball all night and won. He blocked all night and won. He battle injury all night and won. A total MONSTER!!!!

This kid has been a fighter his entire life and what he did against Tennessee was typical Broc Thompson. Not only is he a great football player but he’s and even greater person. I can’t wait to see him line up again next year for the Boilermakers. His future is very bright!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!
