The HomeSchool came out of the ride shootin’ that thang and jumped all over 21st Century 21-12 before I could bite into my hot dog good. Then the kids from Gary settled down and started playing defense, running up and down the court getting crazy transition buckets going on a 16-4 run to go up 28-26 by the end of the 1st quarter.
Now we had a ball game on our hands. Both teams moved the ball well in the first half as they traded buckets to score crazy points. By the time we got to the break 21st Century was up 48-43!! That’s as many points as most high schools score in an entire game!! NUTS!!!
We had a Battle Royale in the third quarter with HomeSchool continuing to shoot the lights out of the gym as 21st Century took advantage of transition opportunities. At the end of the third quarter the Cougars from Gary were up 65-59.
However, HomeSchool kept a steady hand and shooting like some snipers at the Carter. During the last 5 minutes of the game 21st Century’s recklessness with the basketball in the second half finally came and got them. The Wildcats from the Home school took advantage of the additional possessions by cashing in on critical buckets.
Noah Shook led HomeSchool with 19 points as Mitchell Wirts and Myles Johnson each dropped off 18. However, Gary’s Johnell Davis led all scorers with 30 points in a losing effort. Demondrik Velez earned his keep with 15 for the Cougars.
If you’re a basketball fan you need to get out to Manual this weekend and kick your feet up. Stop me when I start lyin’!
