INDISNAPOLIS — Back in 1985 the big homie Schoolly D released the hip hop classic “Gucci Time!” The hook went like this “Lookin’ at my Gucci it’s about that time!” and the crowd would go nuts when the DJ would spin it.
For darn near 37 years every time a big event is about to jump off that’s the first thing I think about saying! The College Football Playoff National Championship is about to kick off in Indianapolis this evening and I’m singing that hook all day!
The Alabama Crimson Tide have rolled into town with their George Jefferson swag to the elevator walk to bump heads with the Georgia Bulldogs for all of the marbles.
Back on December 4 Bama beat the brakes, doors and transmission off of Georgia 41-24 in the SEC Championship Game. The Bulldogs are still trying to get the license plate off of the semi that plowed through them in Atlanta.
Since then both Bama and Georgia has taken care of business in the CFP semifinals to prompt the rematch. The more things change the more they remain the same. Georgia is once again the favorite! But why?
Are they a better team than they were a little more than a month ago?I don’t think so. This time around Alabama is missing some key players. The Crimson Tide was already missing wide receiver John Metchie III. Josh Jobe broke his foot in the SEC title game so he’ll be missing.
Cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis suffered a hip injury against Cincinnati and is questionable. Their offensive line has some injuries as well and are still questionable. That’s why Georgia is now the favorite.
However, even with all of that going on with Alabama I still believe Bama is the better team because they’ve got horses lined up to step up for those that are injured. Alabama wins its second straight national title tonight in Indianapolis. It may be a closer game but Bama still wins it.
