Despite Tre Young exploding for 49 points the Pacers hold on in overtime! “Head of the Snake”

INDIANAPOLIS — Despite Atlanta’s Tre Young rolling into Bankers Life Fieldhouse and droppin’ a smooth 49 points on the Pacers they were still able to get out of the joint alive with a 105-104 overtime win. It wasn’t easy by any stretch of the imagination but Indiana kept fighting until the clock read zeros.

Young’s 49 points tied a career high for the young thunder cat and it was the fourth-highest, single-game total in Bankers Life Fieldhouse history. Ole boy was simply unconscious shooting 16 of 28 from the floor and knocking down 8 of 15 from 3-point land.

After the game Pacers guard Jeremy Lamb had this to say, “The head of the snake, Trae Young, he was great tonight. He was great, but we were able to get enough stops.” Indiana started the night slow and went into the break down 54-43 looking for answers.

Well playas…they found them in the second half as all five of the Indiana starters finished in double figures led by Jeremy Lamb’s 20 points. Both Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis finished with 17 apiece. Sabonis dropped off his usual double-double by adding 12 rebounds. Talk about consistency.  TJ Warren and Malcolm Brogdon added 16 apiece.

Despite the Hawks coming in on an eight game losing streak they played like a team possessed as they kept the Pacers on the ropes bleeding from the mouth. TJ Warren knocked down the go ahead 3-pointer with 1:13 left. Then Jeremy Lamb got the party started in overtime with a 20-foot jumper and a quick assist on Myles Turner’s 3-pointer.

Tre Young was like Bae-Bae’s kids. He wouldn’t die he just kept on multiplying. He had all 10 of the Hawks overtime points but luckily it wasn’t enough to get them over the hump in Indianapolis. Up next Pacers are at Philly on Saturday night!
