Colin Powell once said, “Never neglect details. When everyone’s mind is dulled or distracted the leader must be doubly vigilant.” Walt Disney gave it to us like this, “A man should never neglect his family for business.” Then Robert Baden-Powell, the British Army officer, broke it down so that it would forever be broken when he spit, “We never fail when we try to do our duty, we always fail when we neglect to do it.”
Well playas…therein lies the problem! Too many cats out here have failed to do their duties as fathers. On Thursday night durin’ the College Football Awards Show darn near every cat that received an award thanked their mothers only!! When they showed the families of these great young men there was momma and some other woman (probably their aunt) there with them but no daddy and that’s a darn shame! And that’s the edited version.
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! It’s always been disturbin’ to me when I see our big time athletes get up to receive an award only to thank Momma, Big Momma or Madea for bein’ there for them. I’m always lookin’ for Pops to be standin’ there because my daddy didn’t miss an event, game, banquet or not even a single day at his own house. However, most of the time these duns are nowhere to be found and it’s disgustin’.
Here’s some cat readin’ this with kids that he doesn’t take care of nor does he raise them with “wind in his jaws” at me because I’m callin’ him out. Well playa, talk to God about that because accordin’ to his word, “A man that does not take care of his family is worse than a non-believer.” 1 Timothy 5:8. So you can take that up him him before you get mad at me.
Accordin’ to the Morehouse Statement, new statistics show that an estimated 80 percent of all African-American children will spend part of their childhood livin’ apart from their fathers. Seventy percent of African-American children are born to unmarried mothers and 40 percent of all children regardless of race, live in homes without fathers.
The Bureau of Justice Statistics says that 70 percent of juveniles in state reform institutions grew up in single-parent or no-parent situations, and 53 percent of state prison inmates grew up apart from their fathers. Hey bruh, get mad at yourself not me because the numbers don’t lie.
I’ve lost count of the number of times a college or pro athlete has reached the pinnacle of their careers only to shout out to mom. So I applaud mothers and grandmothers all over the country for doin’ what they’ve had to do in raisin’ these kids alone. It seems like findin’ fathers is like lookin’ for “Big Foot.” It almost seems like cats like myself and the duns that I run with belong to “The Secret Society” of black men that ARE raisin and nurturin’ their kids every step of the way. Don’t get it twisted bruh, we’re out here but we need the rest of these duns to show up at the frat the meeting.
It’s shameful for a man to have kids and not be an integral part of their lives regardless of the relationship with their child’s mother. And I don’t wanna hear the excuses that “she” won’t let me see my kids. Why? Because a woman can’t “Not” let you see your OWN child if you’re handlin’ your business. Bein’ a daddy is a verb not a noun playboy! You gotta be doin’ somethin’ EVERYDAY! Not every once in a while but EVERYDAY. And it costs money to be somebody’s daddy too. So if you ain’t payin’ you ain’t playin’ playa! Like I said, a woman can’t keep you from seein’ your OWN child! That’s what they have courts and laws for and it costs money to make those work for you too.
So if you wanted to raise your kids you would be raisin’ them. If your bread is low get your money up bruh! Or how bout this, stop buyin’ rims, clothes and foolishness for yourself and maybe, just maybe you can go to court and allow the law to stop the foolishness that she may be tryin’ to pull. That’s if it’s foolishness in the first place because I don’t know too many women that want to struggle to raise kids alone. Stop it! You sound crazy. I haven’t met a woman yet that will refuse money to help feed her children.
Don’t get it twisted, it shouldn’t matter whether your child becomes a great college or professional athlete or not. All that matters is that you support them every step of the way because they all are special and it‘s God‘s mission for us to head our households and be the examples that we‘ve been ordained to be. I want to say thank you to all the mothers out there that have to be both parents because some cats refuse to be men! There shouldn’t even be “The Secret Society” because bein’ somebody’s daddy shouldn’t be a darn secret!! And that’s the edited version. Stop me when I start lyin’!
1) Spit: verb – to say
2) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.
3) Wind in his jaws: verb phrase – to have an attitude, to be angry and puffed up because somebody made you mad.
The caption under the photo was REAL talk for darn near everybody that got up bruh!
