Clemson’s Kelly Bryant is running away from real life by leaving the program! “It Is What It Is Playa!”

By now everyone has heard the news of Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant deciding to leave the program because he lost the starting job to the true freshman Trevor Lawrence. On Monday he was informed that the freshman would be assuming the starting role and that he would now be the backup.

Dabo Swinney gave Bryant the day off of practice to absorb it. However, the dun didn’t show up for practice on Tuesday and boyz later found out that he’d decided to transfer. When speaking with The Greenville News he had this to say,

“They asked me how I felt about it. I was like, ‘I’m not discrediting Trevor. He’s doing everything asked of him, but on my side of it, I feel like I haven’t done anything to not be the starter. I’ve been here. I’ve waited my turn. I’ve done everything y’all have asked me to do, plus more. I’ve never been a distraction. I’ve never been in trouble with anything. To me, it was kind of a slap in the face.”

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Welcome to the real world playboy!!! Sometimes in life you’re not going to be the best and nobody owes you anything. If the true freshman is better than you right now then it is what it is. Nobody cares that you were the starter last year after Deshaun Watson left the program. Nobody cares that you were 16-2 as the starter and took the Tigers to the College Football Playoff. None of that means anything when a cat walks into the program that happens to be a better quarterback than you.

Look what happened over in Tuscaloosa. It happens!!!

The numbers through four games don’t lie. Trevor Lawrence has been better for the Clemson Tigers. It is what it is.

It’s life and running away from it only hurts Kelly Bryant. Last year he beat out the No.1 high school quarterback in the country, Hunter Johnson, for the job after DeShaun Watson left for the NFL. It is what it is. However, to make the statement, “It was kind of a slap in the face” tells me that he doesn’t understand life.

Sure, I understand that the new NCAA rule allows for a kid to transfer and keep his eligibility next season if they’ve played 4 games or less. So he’s trying to go somewhere else and play and he has aright to do that. However, he’s going to have to compete for the starting job wherever he goes and the cats that are already there aren’t just going to allow him to take over the keys to the Bentley without a fight. If he’s the best player then he’ll start. Not because he used to start a Clemson. Nobody cares about that anymore. That’s old news.

Having to compete for a position is the best thing that could ever happen to a person. It builds character not just in football but in life. If he gets into a habit of running away every time he doesn’t get his way he’ll be running for the rest of his life. What’s going to happen when he doesn’t get the promotion on the job when he thinks that he’s clearly the best person for it? Is he going to quit?

It would be different if he were a true freshman and lost the job to another true freshman. I get that he’s a senior that’s sat behind DeShaun Watson, waited his turn etc. He’s “paid his dues” right? Well…someone else is on campus now that is better. Nobody cares that he waited his turn. Actually he was the best quarterback on campus after DeShaun left. Now he’s not.  Again…it is what it is. Stop me when I start lyin’!
