Carmel makes the Class 6A title a REAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME this year! “THE BEAST”

Carmel's defense is a BEAST!!! Photo: TheJayGravesReport

Two weeks into the season I told boyz that the Carmel Greyhounds would meet Warren Central in the Class 6A State Title Game at Lucas Oil Stadium. Well playas…it wasn’t that hard to see if you were paying attention to what was really going on. It didn’t take long to figure out that John Hebert had his Hounds ready to compete especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Two games in I was calling their defense the best in the state and had already nicknamed them “THE BEAST” because they brought the wood on every play. They’re only giving up 16 points per game and they’re daring boyz to score more points. So when I say that they’re the real deal believe the hype.

With guys like Nate Frey, Joey Schmidt, Beau Robbins and Cole Brevard bringing hats to the ball on every play it wears on offenses. With a defense that confident in being able to make plays it takes the pressure off of the offense. Now they can play a more relaxed game.

With Gabe Quigley and Tyler Trent splitting time at QB running the offense and playmakers like Christian Williams and Dylan Downing they’ve sprinted through the sectional beating the brakes off of Westfield 28-7. Then they ran up to Lafayette Jeff, turning them upside down and shaking out all of their loose change 41-21 to win the sectional championship. Quigley took over as the starter as they invited Fort Wayne Snider to dinner in the Regionals only to pull the chair out from under them 20-6 to send them back to the crib. Last week they made the trip up to Valparaiso and actually found themselves in a battle but the BEAST showed up and ate Big Momma’s sweet potato pie with 1:42 left to get Valpo off of the field as they turned it over on downs.

Now it’s time to meet DubZilla again but this time it’s for all of the marbles. Sure, they lost to Warren Central during the regular season but it’s a new day on a new field for a new purpose and with that defense anything is possible. Don’t sleep on the Carmel Greyhounds playa because they’ve gotten better every week.

This title game won’t be like the foolishness we witnessed last season when Ben Davis literally took Penn behind the wood shed and beat the brakes off of them 63-14. Naw my friend…this year we’ve got an All-M.I.C. title game! So you already know that it’ll be worth your time and money. All I’ve got to say is “Get Ya Popcorn Ready!” because it’s always hard to beat a team twice. Especially for all of the marbles against a conference rival. Stop me when I start lyin’!
