On Sunday at Talladega Speedway in Lincoln, Alabama a noose was found in Bubba Wallace’s garage. It’s only been two weeks since the only black driver in NASCAR pushed the stock car racing series to ban the Confederate flag at its tracks and facilities.
Of course the good ole boys have been upset about the change in policy. Over the weekend folks were still adamant about flying the flag outside of the race track and some cat even attached it to an airplane and flew it above the track.
NASCAR released a statement expressing its anger over the incident on Sunday.
“Late this afternoon, NASCAR was made aware that a noose was found in the garage stall of the 43 team. We are angry and outraged, and cannot state strongly enough how seriously we take this heinous act. We have launched an immediate investigation, and will do everything we can to identify the person(s) responsible and eliminate them from the sport.“
It went on to say, “As we have stated unequivocally, there is no place for racism in NASCAR, and this act only strengthens our resolve to make the sport open and welcoming to all.”
Unfortunately, we live in a country that was built and founded on hate and there is still a massive amount of people that are still just as ignorant. It completely blows my mind that folks are still allowed to even possess a Confederate flag. Not only should it be banned everywhere but it should be illegal to fly it.
Why? Because the Confederacy loss the Civil War. Where else does the loser of the war still get to fly their flag? Where else do the generals and leaders of the losing unit get to have statues and buildings named after them? It makes absolutely no sense. The ignorance that is allowed to run rampant in America is disgusting.
There are people that hate black folks because they look differently than they do and most importantly they hate them because they can no longer own them. Think about that for a minute. They hate another group of people because they can no longer possess them as slaves and this is permitted in America.
We didn’t come here like every other group of people in this country with the exception of the native American as immigrants. We were brought here as slaves in shackles and chains being bought and sold for 246 years.
For the last 155 years we’ve literally been fighting to become free in a country that we built. The entire economy is rooted in the slave trade. Just two streets from the current New York Stock Exchange was the site of the one of the largest slave markets in this country. Enslaved people built the wall in which Wall Street is named.
We built the farms and towns that would eventually become the United States of America. We worked the cotton, sugar and tobacco plantations all over the south that fueled the entire economy and built such companies that still fuel this country’s wealth. Companies like Citibank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase etc. got their hands dirty during the slave trade.
In 2005, Chase admitted that two of its subsidiaries – Citizens’ Bank and Canal Bank in Louisiana – accepted enslaved people as collateral for loans. If plantation owners defaulted on a loan they would take their slaves.
Cities in the north that didn’t directly play a role in the slave trade did business with the southern states in buying cotton and tobacco that fueled the economy.
Brooks Brothers, the oldest men’s clothier in the US turned southern cotton into high end fashion. Domino’s Sugar, once the largest sugar refiner in the country sold slave-grown sugar cane. I could name hundreds of other well-known brands that built empires off of the backs of black folks but you get my drift.
My point is this, why do people hate the very folks that built the very country that they say they love so dearly. If nothing else, this country and its people are forever indebted to the African slaves and its decedents for making America one of the strongest economies on earth.
Putting a noose in Bubba Wallace’s garage is simply showing us how mad some folks are that they can no longer control the minds of black people in America. Keep advancing the cause of being free in America and the idiots will continue to show their faces. At some point they’re going to lose this war too. But this time they won’t be able to keep their flag or nooses. Stop me when I start lyin’!
