On Thursday I wrote a Crazy Hot Joint entitled “Rick Pitino’s a Dry Snitch” about him snitchin’ on Romeo Langford’s dad about how he allegedly got bread for runnin’ an AAU team that his son played on last summer. Now it’s perfectly legal for him to do because the shoe companies own the AAU market and that’s just how the whole thing gets down.
They finance the summer for these teams to travel all over the country and to some parts of the world. They put crazy gear on these kids and they hoop all summer on the Adidas, Nike or Under Armour circuit. The companies establish relationships with the players and slow walk them into whatever schools they have a deal with. It’s the AMERICAN WAY!!!
What tripped me out about the response to my article was the amount of people goin’ at ole boy’s dad for gettin’ bread to run the team like everybody and their baby’s momma have been doin’ for years that isn’t even related to half of these kids. The exploitation is ridiculous but now you want to come at his dad for runnin’ his OWN team with his OWN kid? You sound crazy!!!
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! The parents should be the first people to get back off of this foolishness because they’ve made the most sacrifice. They’ve fed him, clothed him, took him to every practice, trainin’ session, hospital visit, stayed up all night with him when he was sick or hurt, prayed with him, been his personal chauffeur etc. THEY ARE HIS PARENTS!!! So if his dad got some bread from Adidas and it was legal then good for him.
I didn’t say a word all season when I wanted to write this piece because I didn’t want to bring attention to it. Now that these media-types and fans are goin’ at his family I’ve got to say give you my two cents.
Everybody and their baby’s momma in New Albany or connected to New Albany High School was gettin’ back but nobody said a word!! The kid was signin’ autographs after every game for not just kids but for ADULTS!!!! What do you think people are doin’ with those autographs bruh? How many items do you need autographed? The town is only so big but every night there was line out the freakin’ door waitin’ for autographs. That means that the same duns are gettin’ back in line every night. How many autographs do you need from a high school basketball player? At some point most of those autographs are goin’ on sale. But you’re mad at his dad for runnin’ his OWN team that his OWN son played on?
Duns were walkin’ around with New Albany Romeo Langford Adidas jerseys on that somebody was sellin’. He’s in high school bruh!!!!
That’s exploitation at it’s finest but you’re mad that his father got money for runnin’ an AAU team? Every gym the dun played in last season was sold out and boyz were standin’ out front scalpin’ tickets at the highest prices they could get all over the state. But you’re mad at his old man for gettin’ money for runnin’ his team?
The media created a circus-type atmosphere around this kid everywhere he went. There were grown men and women serenadin’ him with the IU fight song in every arena he played in all season long beggin’ him to go to IU. Not kids bruh…GROWN FOLKS!!!! Duns in there 50’s, 60’s and 70’s were shoutin’ his name when he walked into the buildin’ every night.
Everybody was tryin’ to figure out a way to get paid off of this kid without givin’ him a single penny but now you’re mad because his dad got back? Walk into any bookstore on campus at IU today and you’ll find the No.1 jersey on sale and the kid hasn’t bounced a single ball for the Hoosiers yet. Now they’ll try to tell you that it’s Aljami Durham’s jersey but we all know that it’s Romeo’s joint. Durham barely saw the floor last year and even if he did, isn’t he a student too. Are you payin’ him for the jersey sales? But again, you’re mad at Romeo’s dad for gettin’ what rightfully belongs to his family and more importantly his kid.
New Albany high School nor IU or any other business entity that has made or is makin’ money off of this kid isn’t givin’ the Langford family a cut of their profits. So what sense does it make to be mad at a man for runnin’ his own team with his own kid if anybody else that would have been runnin’ the team would have gotten the same money? You sound like a bonafide hater with nothin’ to do with your time. I say “Get ya money man” because everybody else will. And nobody’s trippin’ about the several Billion that the NCAA is about to make off of all of these kids. Stop me when I start lyin’!
