Baylor’s Kim Mulkey says dump COVID-19 testing for Final Four! “Hypocrisy run Amok”

Big Momma would always say, “If you listen to people long enough. They’ll always tell you who they really are and what’s most important to them. They can’t hide it.” Well playas…Baylor’s Kim Mulkey told the world who she was and what was most important to her even though she tried to hide it during the season.

After her team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament by top seeded UConn. She made this statement during the post-game press conference unprompted about how she feels about COVID-19 testing going forward with the teams in the Final Four.

“After the games today and tomorrow, there’s four teams left, I think, on the men’s side and the women’s side. They need to dump the COVID testing. Wouldn’t it be a shame to keep COVID testing and then you got kids that test positive or something and they don’t get to play in the Final Four? So you just need to forget the COVID tests and get the four teams playing in each Final Four and go battle it out.”

Now let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! The NCAA has been testing everyone in that bubble daily since the tournament started. As of Saturday, there had been two confirmed positive tests at the women’s tournament with over 15,400 administered.

The testing is what has been keeping this thing afloat and keeping everyone involved safe. Do I need to remind this woman that more than 565,000 lives have been lost to this virus.

So regardless of how she feels about a kid missing an opportunity to play in a freaking championship. There have been people burying loved ones as a result of the spread of this virus.

That was the most ignorant and insensitive thing to say and nobody in the room called her out on it. That’s the shame of it all.

However, this is the same woman that after contracting the virus from a family member during the Christmas holiday was fired up about the NCAA only being concerned about the bread.

After her first game back on the sideline she was asked if she was concerned that the season be completed amid a pandemic. Here was her response:

“The answer is this: The season will continue on. It’s called the almighty dollar. The NCAA has to have the almighty dollar from the men’s tournament. The almighty dollar is more important than the health and welfare of me, the players or anybody else.”

She went on to say, “One conference does this, one conference does that. The CDC says this. Everybody is confused. I’m confused. I’m uncomfortable coaching. I understand, COVID is real. I’ve had it — come talk to me sometime. But I don’t know … all the calls and procedures, that’s gonna go on and make it unusual, uncomfortable for every program. We’re no different at Baylor.”

But now she’s hollerin’ for no COVID-19 testing because it’s only four teams left and guess what? Her’s isn’t playing. How is she any different than the folks she was complaining about earlier during the season that were chasing the almighty dollar? Give me a freakin’ break!!! This is hypocrisy run amok. Stop me when I start lyin’!
