When you live in Northwest Indiana boyz down state wanna act like you don’t exist. There’s never a mention of you in the news and when they start talkin’ about best ball players or teams you better have an Indianapolis zip code, something close to it, or be a national prospect. Or better yet, you better drive down here and take care of business when you’ve got the opportunity.

Well playas…the Gary Roosevelt Panthers showed up in Indianapolis on Saturday and beat the defendin’ Class A State Champions the Tindley Tigers 68-63. Boyz weren’t playin’ when they pulled up bruh. On the openin’ play the ‘Velt’s Dakei Hines hit ‘um up with a MONSTER alley-oop just to let a boy know that “The G” was in the buildin’!

It was attack mode from that point forward playboy. Coach James “Jiggie” Scott had his boyz runnin’ and attackin’ the basket all day.

Coach Scott’s not playin’ with these boyz!

Oh don’t get it twisted Tindley just didn’t fold up like a tent. They went right at a boy goin’ up 25-15 at the end of the first quarter. However, the Panthers stayed on the prowl and it was all knotted up at 34 at the break.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! These two teams were playin’ like the Brand new Jordan’s were at stake and most importantly, north vs. south braggin’ rights on the line.

Tindley’s Eric Hunter Jr. scored 10 of his 17 points in the first half but went cold in the third where he didn’t score a point. However, he got back on track in the fourth knockin’ down another 7. Roosevelt played great defense on the Purdue signee as he never got into a rhythm.

The Velt was led by Marques Smith’s 22 points. Dakei Hines came out of the passenger seat on a boy with 17 includin’ multiple old school G.I. yokes! Dennis Caldwell unloaded from the back seat with 15 to keep a boy honest.

YESSIR!!! G.I. was in the buildin’ and they even had even cats in the place to sing “Dear Ole Roosevelt!”

The thing that impressed me most about this Panther team was it’s fire to continuously attack the basket no matter what. If they were located in the Indianapolis area it wouldn’t have been a surprise that they competed the way they did to win this game. Tindley didn’t realize that they were goin’ to be that aggressive and maybe they did. I sure didn’t. Big shout to Tindley for playin’ a helluva game down the stretch which wasn’t decided until the final 11 seconds.

Big salute to the homies from up north for reppin’ the crib like some real G’s! G.I. that is and you stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Yoke: Verb – to dunk on a boy.

4) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
