The Warren Central Warriors have climbed to the No.2 spot in the AP Class 4A poll this week and on some real talk, they should really be No.1! They’ve got the best record in the state at 14-0 with No.1 South Bend Riley sittin’ at 13-0. However, that’s neither here nor there. If these boyz keep winnin’ they have to run into each other at some point right?
Since I haven’t seen Riley play I won’t speak on them. However, I have seen Warren get up and down the floor on boyz multiple times this season and they’ve got a squad full of athletes that jump out of the gym, shoot the rock, and play defense, that will be hard to beat. They ran the defendin’ state champs out of the buildin’ on MLK Day to win the Marion County Championship behind the best guard combo breathin’!! Do you hear me?
Antwaan Cushinberry and Dean Tate are puttin’ on a clinic this year. I haven’t seen a set of guards play this well together in years. It’s NUTS!!! Not only are they gettin’ this team up and down the floor but they’re like air traffic controllers on the floor.
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Boyz around this piece are lucky that they’re like 5’6″ each. I know they’re listed at 5’8″ but they’re only that tall with some old school Jackson Five platforms on. They ain’t 5’8″ bruh trust me. However, they play like they’re 6’3″ or taller. They can both jump out of the gym have the confidence of a lion. Again, it’s NUTS!!!!
Talk about controllin’ the tempo on both sides of the ball. Bruh…! The fact that you’ve got two cats that can handle the rock like some G’s and either one of them can run the point at any time. But Cush is the floor general. Combined that with the fact that you’ve got some soldiers comin’ out of the back seat on you in Jakobie Robinson, David Bell, Jesse Bingham and Joe Rush comin’ out of the bushes. It’s a problem. Why? Because they all got skillz and crazy confidence.
The more they win the more confidence they get and by the time sectionals roll around they’ll be on auto-pilot. That east side swag is carryin’ these boyz and it’s about to get even stronger. Did I mention that Criss Beyers is doin’ a helluva job of coachin’ this group? Well I just did.
