Why Warren Central has been the best TEAM hoopin’ so far! “Serious Business”

I’ve had a chance to see several of the top teams from all four classes play up to this point. There are some extremely talented teams in the state. However, I’ve been the most impressed with two teams. Warren Central which is a Class 4A school and Tindley Prep led by Eric Hunter Jr. (Purdue recruit), which is a Class A school. On some real talk, Tindley could compete for the Class 4A title bruh if given the opportunity. They’re just that good.

However, since the state has gone to this stupid Class system since the 1997-98 season we’ll never get to see the best of the best play each other again. When I was a freshman at Gary Roosevelt in 1982, one of the biggest schools in the state, our team loss to Scott Skiles and the Plymouth Pilgrims in double overtime for the state championship. There were more people in my freakin’ graduatin’ class than there were at Plymouth High School.

That’s what the Indiana state basketball tournament used to be all about. When my homeboys from the ‘Velt came down in 1991 with a dun known in the hood as G-Rob now known to rest of the world as the Big Dog. They played the tiny private school, Brebeuf led by Allen Henderson in the Hoosier or RCA Dome, whichever was the name at the time, to a packed house.

Of course Velt beat the doors off of them but at least Brebeuf got the chance to play for all of the marbles against the best team in the state. It would have been a waste for Brebeuf to play another school of their size for the state title.

That’s why Tindley is playin’ a schedule complete with every Class of teams because the state tournament for them is goin’ to be a sleeper.

So since we’ve got to look at this foolishness from a Class standpoint now the Tindley and Warren Central matchup will never happen at the state tourney level. I’ve seen the defendin’ state champs, Ben Davis with Michigan State recruit Aaron Henry. I’ve seen New Albany with the most highly recruited cat in the state and No.5 ranked player in the country, Romeo Langford. I’ve seen Center Grove with the highly sought after  junior Trayce Jackson-Davis and Lawrence North with Kevin Easley Jr. as well as Cathedral.

However, the most impressive TEAM I’ve seen at the Class 4A level has been Warren Central. Not because they’ve got a team full of top basketball recruits fallin’ out of the ride. It’s because they’ve got a team full of straight up athletes that work their butts off. Their guard play is NUTS with Antwaan Cushinberry and Dean Tate. These two young thunder cats make the engine purr. They share the ball like crazy and there’s not a selfish player on the floor.

David Bell

It’s crazy to see a team full of cats gettin’ off of the bus that can get up and down the floor and change directions the way they do. They’ve got the most highly recruited junior football player in the state doin’ work in David Bell that is as quick as cat and can jump out of the gym. Then they’ve got Jesse Bingham that’s a complete monster when it comes to effort on the floor. He can do it all for them, shoot, pass and bang down low. What can I say about Jakobie Robinson bruh? You need 20 he’s got 20, you need rebounds he’s got rebounds, and they’ve got the deepest bench I’ve seen thus far.

Yeah playa, Warren Central is the best team I’ve seen so far in Class 4A. They’re about to be a problem for boyz the rest of the way. They’ve already knocked off both Ben Davis and Cathedral and they haven’t even gotten started yet. Don’t sleep on the Warriors from the east side because they’re comin’ for boyz lunch money in 2018. I’m just sayin’ and stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
