Jeanie Buss pulled the ultimate power move two days before the trade deadline! Instead of tradin’ a boy they fired some boyz!!! On Tuesday she announced that Lakers great and Hall of Famer Magic Johnson would be takin’ over as president of basketball operations. In the same move she fired general manager, Mitch Kupchak and her own brother, vice president of basketball operations, Jim Buss. She broke it down like a real G with this statement:
“Today I took a series of actions I believe will return the Lakers to the heights Dr. Jerry Buss demanded and our fans rightly expect. Effective immediately, Earvin Johnson will be in charge of all basketball operations and will report directly to me. Our search for a new general manager to work with Earvin and coach Luke Walton is well underway and we hope to announce a new general manager in short order. Together, Earvin, Luke and our new general manager will establish the foundation for the next generation of Los Angeles Lakers greatness.”
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! It’s about freakin’ time bruh! The Los Angeles Lakers franchise is the premiere joint in the National Basketball Association and they should NEVER be sittin’ in the toilet like they are right now! However, it was freakin’ Jeanie and Jim Buss that took them to the toilet in the first place by keepin’ Kobe around 3 years too long!
When ole boy tore his Achilles and they had to pay him the $30 million for the 2014 season. I told you boyz that they should have amnestied him, paid the dun the money and let him walk. Why? Because he wasn’t worth keepin’ goin’ forward. He was a great player but he was way past his prime and it was time to move on to rebuild the team for the future. But naaaaw!!! Jeanie and Jim were fans and they signed the dun to an additional two years at $24 million each.
Not a single veteran free agent in the game wanted to come to LA because Kobe still thought that he was the No.1 option and that’s why they’re trash right now!
So bringin’ in Magic was the smartest move she could have made. He knows the game and players and the dun is goin’ to be a magnet for free agents.
Even though Kobe stuck around too long he knows how to win. So Magic has already said that the first call he’ll make is to him and I’m quite sure he’ll involve other legends of the game in his recruitin’ of free agents. The more winners you incorporate into your program the quicker you change the culture.
Laker Nation is back because ole boy will put in the work to create the culture that he came up in. What culture? Winnin’ championships!!!
I’ll give him 3 years and the Lakers will be a title contender again. Why? Because it’s LA and he’s MAGIC!! Stop me when I start lyin’!
1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.
