Why Paul George STILL has all of the power! “Contracts”

"I got this!!"

Now that the trade deadline has come and gone and Paul George is still wearin’ a Pacers uniform it’s time to get back to business. Well…at least for the time bein’ anyway. The Pacers didn’t finalize a trade for him but they did let a boy know that they were at least lookin’, changes the game for everybody involved.

PG put it on the table that he wants to play for a winner and Larry Bird let a boy know that he’s not goin’ to sit in the cut and just let him walk away for nothin’! So in other words, this ain’t over yet playa.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! PG needs to ball out for the remainder of this season and next because he’s goin’ to be free agent regardless of what the Pacers decide to do if he doesn’t sign an extension between now and then. He’s already pretty much put it on the table that he’s not goin’ to sign an extension with Indiana at least from the ESPN interview last week.

I’m not mad at him because I’ve always said that Indiana is and will always be a middle of the road team simply because they can’t attract multiple superstar free agents to come to Indiana. In order to become a legitimate contender you’ve got to have multiple horses. They don’t have that and PG is ready to bounce accordin’ to his comments last week. What comments? When the dun said that he wouldn’t guarantee that he’ll sign an extension this off-season he told you that he’s really not interested playa.

Again, I’m not mad at him because I would do the same thing. He doesn’t owe the Pacers anything but his effort EVERY night. Play his butt off and if he wants to go to another team after next season that’s his prerogative. Even if the Pacers decided to trade him this summer or even before next year’s trade deadline he’ll still be a free agent next summer. PG’s responsibility to himself is to play as hard as he can so that when his contract expires he’ll be ready to make the moves that he wants to make.

You can’t force a boy to do what you want him to do. His contract expires next summer so he’s in control of what happens from there. The Pacers can deal him and even the next team can deal him but nobody can make him sign an extension. That’s the beauty of free agency. I love that players are in a position to call the shots for their careers.

Why shouldn’t Paul George be able to tell a boy that he’s not signin’ an extension if he doesn’t want to? The team nor the fans own him. He’s only obligated to play hard while he’s contracted to the Pacers. When the joint is up he’s got the option to chose where he wants to play based on the options that are available to him.

What the Pacers do with their future isn’t a concern of Paul George if he decides to bounce. And he’s definitely goin’ to bounce playa. LA didn’t have to trade for him if they figure he’s goin’ to knock on their door next summer. Why? Because he’s a free agent and LA suddenly became a destination spot again earlier this week. Stop me when I start lyin’!
