About a month ago I decided that I would expand my sports coverage into high school football. What better conference to cover than the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference known to all the real playas as simply the M.I.C.? It’s the best conference in the state and is always a Top 14 or 15 conference in the country. After all, goin’ into Week 3 of the season they had 5 of the Top 10 teams in the state in reppin’ the M.I.C.!!
So Week 1 I went over to Warren Central to cover the then No.3 Warriors open up against then No.4 Center Grove. Well playas…when I pulled up a 5:30pm for a 7pm kickoff the parkin’ lot was full of students reppin’ “The Pit” which was their student section. It was the best I’d ever seen up to that point. They were completely off the chain engaged and took my breath away.
So in the subsequent weeks I’ve been payin attention to how boyz get down in the M.I.C. not only on the field but in the student sections. Pike was off the hook and kept it funky all game long. The kids stayed engage the entire night without walkin’ and lookin’ for the fashion show like they typically do at high school games.
Warren was NUTS in the Pit! So I thought that it couldn’t get any better until I arrived at Lawrence North at 5:30pm on for the Battle of Lawrence on Friday evenin’!!
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Duns were everywhere with camouflage on reppin’ Lawrence North!!! The gates weren’t even open and I couldn’t get in without climbin’ over or pass Wildcat fans at the gate!!! Incredible bruh.
I wrote a Hot Joint after my experience at Warren Central entitled “The Pit Stay Lit” about how I’d never seen a student section better. However, now I’ve got to retract that joint and replace it with this one. Before the game even started the Wildcat student section was the loudest I’ve ever heard and when boyz started playin’ it was NUTS!!!
Now don’t get it twisted, Lawrence Central’s student section was crazy too. They were just on the road and didn’t have the numbers that North had. I was very impressed with them as well.
So at this point in the season I’ve got to rank Lawrence North’s “Destruction Zone” No.1, Warren Central’s “The Pit” No.2 and Pike at No.3! That’s just real talk playboy. I’ve got no dog in this fight. I’m not even from Indy playa. I’m just tellin’ you what I’ve seen from the field as a cat coverin’ these games. All of these schools should be proud of what their student sections are doin’ for their teams but Lawrence North has been the best so far. That’s just real talk! Now I’m still makin’ my way around the M.I.C. so there might be someone better out there and if there is I’ll let you know. Stop me when I start lyin’
