Why it was disrespectful to give Adam Jones a standin’ ovation! “An American Problem”

On Tuesday I wrote the crazy Hot Joint entitled “The Sad Truth” about how Joe Mixon was simply a mask for a larger systemic American issue called racism. Everybody wants to call Joe a violent person with an anger problem that shouldn’t be given the opportunity to play in the NFL even after he’s paid his debt to society. He was suspended from the Oklahoma football program for a year, he was arrested and sentenced to 100 hours of community service and required to go through anger management. However, grown folks in America want him banned for life but the deeper issue of racism has still not been addressed.

Well playas…on Monday night in the MLB Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones was subjected to the same foolishness of racism that we’ve all experienced in this country but he finally went public with it. Durin’ the game ole boy said that he was constantly called the N-word by fans and then some fool threw a bag of peanuts at him. However, it missed him and hit a police officer instead.

So Jones went public with the incident and told reporters why he decided to finally say something. Here’s what he said, “It was just the right time. It was something that was on my mind. It was frustrating for me. I’m a grown man with a family to raise, so I’m not just going to let nobody just sit there and berate me. I’m a grown man. Where I come from, you say things like that, you put the gloves on and you go after it. Obviously in the real world, you can’t do that, especially in my field; so just hopefully, the awareness comes, the people around in the stands will hold other fans accountable.”

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Did you just read what this grown man said bruh? He said that “Where I come from, you say things like that, you put the gloves on and you go after it. Obviously in the real world, you can’t do that, especially in my field.” He’s a fully grown man that understands how to conduct himself because he’s got too much to lose. Joe Miixon, unfortunately wasn’t mature enough to handle the situation differently because he had just turned 18 the day before.

However, the emotions are the same! It blows my mind that there are people in this country that think that it’s permissible to keep treatin’ people of color that way. But what’s even more disturbin’ is that people sittin’ around listenin’ to those types of comments don’t ever tell the duns makin’ them that it’s unacceptable to treat folks that way. That’s why that type of behavior still exists.

On Tuesday the Red Sox team president Sam Kennedy had this to say, “We want to make sure that our fans know, and the [Boston] market knows, that offensive language, racial taunts, slurs are unacceptable. If you do it, you’re going to be ejected. If you do it, you’re going to be subject to having your tickets revoked for a year, maybe for life. We’re going to look at that. We haven’t made any firm decisions, but it just can’t happen.”

What’s so sad about what he had to say was that he never took that stand until Adam Jones put his team on blast. He knows what goes on at his stadium bruh. It’s common knowledge among black players around the league that Fenway Park is the worse when it comes to the N-word bein’ thrown at black players accordin’ to CC Sabatia. So don’t act like it’s such a problem now and you’ve got to eradicate the evil monster today.

What was even more upsettin’ was that on Tuesday night when Adam Jones came to bat all of the fans at Fenway Park gave him a standin’ ovation. As a matter of fact, they gave him an extended standin’ ovation as pitcher Chris Sale stepped off of the plate to let the crowd cheer even longer. You’re probably askin’ yourself why is it so upsettin’? Because by givin’ the man a standin’ ovation for tellin’ boyz that somebody called him the N-word is to trivialize him and the situation. Don’t stand up and clap! Stand up and call the person out that’s callin’ folks the N-word.

Most of the duns at the ball park have heard their neighbors and friends at the stadium use that word for years and they’ve never stood up to say that it was wrong. People that use that word at the stadium don’t just pack it in their game day bag and bring it with them. They use it all of the time and nobody around them says that they shouldn’t use it or calls them out for it.

So don’t give Jones a standin’ ovation for doin’ what you should have done years ago. Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st AGAIN. Most white folks hear that word more than I do? Why? Because a dun will say it more openly around other folks that look like them while talkin’ about black folks because they feel comfortable sayin’ it when we’re not around. So if you’re not willin’ to check a boy for usin’ that word in your presence then don’t trivialize Jones by givin’ him a standin’ ovation for tellin’ the world that he had been mistreated because of those same people clappin’ for him heard the dun call him the N-word and never said a word against it.

The only difference between Adam Jones and Joe Mixon is 13 years of maturity and $100 million. There is a systemic problem in this country that needs to be eradicated and it’s called racism. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
