Why Broc Thompson has until February to sign his National Letter of Intent! “Back Up Off Of Him”

The baddest cat catchin' balls in Indiana this year is takin' his time bruh! Photo: TheJayGravesReport

Durin’ the high school football season I covered the M.I.C. which is the best conference in the state of Indiana and it’s a top 15 conference in the country. I watched many of the very best players this state has to offer every Friday night. One in particular played wide receiver at No.1 Ben Davis! The eventual Class 6 A State Champions. His name was Broc Thompson!

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! When I tell you this kid was a beast trust what I’m sayin’ bruh. There wasn’t a kid in the state that ran better routs, attacked the football in the air and did something with it better than Broc Thompson. Do you hear me? The dun finished the season with more than 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns. Ole boy broke EVERY receivin’ record at Ben Davis high school. He was clearly the best all around receiver in this state. I’ve written multiple Hot Joints about this kid. However, the biggest knock on him was the fact that he was skinny. He’s 6’3″ 175 lbs.

What continued to blow my mind was schools around here like Indiana sayin’ that he’s too small. What!!!? That’s why you pay a strength and conditionin’ coach all of the bread that you do to get kids like this beefed up. One thing you can’t teach is talent playa. And he’s better than any receiver walkin’ around this piece. So based on the offers that he received durin’ the season he committed to Ball State.

So now fast forward to December 20th which was the new NCAA early signin’ day for high school football players.   The traditional date to sign is February 7,2018. Now these college coaches are pushin’ cats to sign on the early date or within the three day period allotted to do it or they’ll have to wait until the February date to secure their players.

Now I completely get why a college coach would want players to sign early because it takes all of the stress off of the coachin’ staff. If we get everybody signed sealed and delivered in December we can rest easy through the holidays, bowl season and pretty much take a needed brake before spring ball kicks in. I get it.

So on Wednesday when most of the big time players from around the city were signin’ their letters like Indiana’s 2017 Mr. Football, Reese Taylor (Indiana), John Adams (California), Markese Stepp (USC), Emil Ekiyor (Alabama), Hugh Davis (Boston College), Elijah Ball (Purdue), Branson Dean (Purdue), Isaac Guerendo (Wisconin) and others.

The lil’/big homie and All-State wide receiver, Broc, didn’t sign with Ball State just yet. Then boyz started lookin’ at him side ways because he’d committed to them durin’ the season. Everybody up in Muncie and even around Indy expected him to sign early. Well playas…there’s no rule that says that if a player commits to a school that he has to sign early.

That convenience is for the stress relief of the coaches more than it is for the players. Most of these cats around the city that signed where ready to make it official and get it over with. Broc Thompson obviously isn’t in a rush to sign the letter because it’s his right not to. If there was never an early signin’ date we wouldn’t be havin’ this stupid conversation.

Just like it’s business for the coaches. Well playboy, it’s business for Broc and his family too. He never said that he wasn’t goin’ to sign with Ball State. He just wasn’t signin’ on December 20th. Just like he didn’t sign Wednesday there were players all over this country that didn’t sign because they’ve got a right to wait and make the very best decision for their futures.

I think that it’s disrespectful to the kid to try to force them to sign early. It’s the biggest decision that they’ve ever had to make in their lives.  If he’s got until February to sign then y’all need to pull a Snoop Dogg and back up off of him and sit yo cup down.

Let that man handle his business and y’all need to get out of it! Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
