While everybody and their baby’s momma was payin’ attention to Kris Wilkes last season, now at UCLA. There was a dun across town grindin’ and puttin’ in work to become the next best thang to come out of Naptown! Ben Davis’ Aaron Henry quietly led the Giants to the 4A State Championship after pealin’ off a 15 game winnin’ streak to end the season. At 6’6″ the combo guard/foward has taken the summer by storm on the AAU circuit playin” for Team Harris.
After ballin’ out durin’ his junior season ole boy was named to the “Supreme 15” which is voted on by the Indiana Basketball Coaches’ Association (IBCA) as one of the top 15 players in the state. He also made the first-team Indianapolis Star Indy-Area Super Team and was second-team Associated Press All-State. However, he isn’t satisfied with that playa.
He’s not playin’ with these cats as he takes another step towards greatness as he picks up scholarships offers like lent in an old dryer!! In late June he was offered by Butler, UMass, Xavier, Nebraska, Indiana and UConn!! Then he went out to the Adidas Uprising Tournament just this week in Las Vegas and like my mother used to say, showed his bare bottom, and picked up offers from Ohio State, Illinois, Virginia Tech and TCU.
He’s goin’ NUTS right now and only gettin’ better bruh! Not only can he bang with the bigs because Ben Davis plays him at small forward where he puts in work in the blocks, because let’s face it, it’s high school basketball. At 6’6″ many times a boy is forced to play out of position because of a lack of team height. However, this kid can do it all!! He runs the floor like a gazelle, handles the rock like a point guard and he can shoot it from anywhere on the floor. And he’s a lefty so it looks sweet comin’ out of his hand.
Last season he led Ben Davis with 14.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.8 and 42 percent shooting from 3-point range as they went on to win the state championship.With all of the attention he’s gettin’ this summer his confidence level should be on swole by the time the high school hoop season starts!
There will be no excuses to sleep on this kid come November. Not around this piece anyway. Aaron Henry is the ticket that boyz better be buyin’ if they wanna see the real deal in the city of Indianapolis!
