When you’re 23-0 and the No.1 team in the state everybody’s gunnin’ for you. Everybody and their baby’s mom wants to be the one that knocks you off of the perch. Well playas…on Tuesday night the Warren Central Warriors ran over to Pike to see what they were talkin’ about and literally ran into a dog fight. They barely got out of the joint with their sneakers and jewelry winnin’ it 48-46.

Initially it looked like they were about to drag Pike up and down the floor goin’ up 24-8 by the end of the first quarter. As soon as the buzzer went off at end the quarter Pike’s Hunter White seemed to challenge Warren’s David Bell and you already know boyz aren’t about to just let that ride right?

It got a little chippy and three players from Warren ran out on the floor to help their homeboy settle his differences and subsequently got ejected from the game. Number one rule playa: You can’t leave the bench. So now the No.1 team in the state is down to 8 available players for the rest of the game. Double technical fouls were accessed and they kept it movin’.

I’m not sure if Pike intended for it to work out that way or not but after those techs Warren went flat for the next two quarters. They managed to only score a single point in the second period gettin’ to the break up 25-20.

By the end of the third quarter they were up 34-30 scorin’ only 10 points from the end of the first quarter to the end of the third. That’s NUTS!!!! Especially with the way this team gets up and down the floor on a boy.

Pike continued to fight and never gave up even down to the wire. The young thunder cats from the east side had just a little too much composure and swag to let a boy take their sneakers and jewelry when they’re this close to finishin’ the regular season undefeated. They improved to 24-0 led by Dean Tate’s 17 points as that GROWN man David Bell dropped off 8 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks.

No matter who they’re playin’ the Warren Central Warriors seem to have an answer for them. That’s what championship caliber teams do. They find ways to win and this team certainly has been able to do that. Stop me when I start lyin’!
