Well playas…on Martin Luther King Day the Marion County Championship will be decided as both Warren Central and Ben Davis advanced Saturday night to the title game Monday. In the first semifinal, Warren Central, a team full of bonafide athletes that can get up and down the floor, knocked off a very good Lawrence North team 62-58. In the second game Ben Davis outworked a scrappy Roncalli ball club 59-42 to advance.
Warren Central was led by Jakobie Robinson’s 16 points followed by David Bell’s 13 and Joe Rush dropped off a solid 11. Bruh…when I tell you these cats can get up and down the floor! They can get up and down the floor! I don’t think that there is another team breathin’ that is as athletic at Warren Central. I call them the “Good Hands” team! It’s literally like puttin’ the hands team out on a potential onside kick in football. Every cat on the floor can swipe it if it’s airborne. It’s NUTS and the team speed is just ridiculous.
There’s a reason why these boyz are still undefeated. They’re just that good. You can’t game plan for them. They’ve got weapons all over the court. You don’t know who’s goin’ to hurt you from game to game. The guard play is sick with Dean Tate and Antwaan Cushinberry. Then David Bell is probably the most extraordinary athlete walkin’ right now. He’s as quick as a cat, can jump out of the gym and shoot the rock.
Then you’ve got to pick your poison between Jesse Bingham, Joe Rush and Jakobie Robinson. It’s NUTS!!! They are the best all-around TEAM I’ve seen all season and they’re goin’ to be hard to beat.
Now let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Ben Davis is the defendin’ state champions. So let’s not completely discount what they’re pullin’ up in the Big Body Chevy with. Sure, they lost some key weapons off of that title team from a year ago but they’re solid. They’re still led by Aaron Henry (Michigan State recruit) that can completely take over a ball game at the drop of a hat. He scored 10 points in the semifinal game versus Roncalli because he’s not a selfish player. When he sees his teammates in a rhythm he plays the game the way it’s supposed to be played.
Then there’s the lil’/big homie Jalen Windham that can shoot it from the parkin’ lot. He finished with a team high 17 points on Saturday night. Ole boy’z comin’ into his own this year and is extremely comfortable takin’ over a ball game if need be. Did I mention the Philistine, Dawand Jones, that stands 6’8″ 320 lbs, that can run the floor, rebound and muscle everybody and their baby’s momma’s Uncle LeRoy in a pair of Stacy Adams knobs? Well if I didn’t I just did. That dun can go and he’s just a junior.
So what happens with all of this talent on the floor on Monday night? Unfortunately, Coach James over at Ben Davis is goin’ to take us back to the movie Hoosiers and slow the ball down. It’s gonna be like watchin’ Jimmy Chitwood and his boyz paint the side a freakin’ barn.
I swear they need a shot clock in high school basketball!!! It’s moments like these that it becomes absolutely necessary to have one. You’re goin’ to have two of the most talented and athletic teams in the state on one floor and the score’s goin’ to be 30-28.
If I wanted to watch Hoosiers I’d rent the darn movie. I already know what it’s goin’ to be so I’ve got a little more than 24 hours to prepare myself for this foolishness. Just let them play and everybody will be happy. I can’t wait to see these cats go at it, especially if they actually let them play their games. Stop me when I start lyin’!

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
