The REAL reason I want to see the Cubs win bruh! “Loyalty”

"This year may be the year Cubs fans have been talkin' about for more than 100 years bruh!"

Zig Ziglar once said, “The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty.” Fetty Wap hit a boy in the dome when he spit this, “My whole thing is loyalty. Loyalty over royalty; word is bond. Then Colin Powell put it where the goats could get it when he shouted, “Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence.”

Well playas…the darn Chicago Cubs organization knows a whole lot about learnin’ from failure and persistence and their fan base knows EVERYTHING about bein’ loyal. Now before I even get started on this Crazy Hot Joint about the Cubs and how much I wanna see them win and get to the World Series. Let me be honest with you up front. In my opinion, baseball is the worst sport ever invented. It’s like watchin’ paint dry standin’ on my head in a snow storm. And to be quite honest with you. I could give two dead flies smashed about the darn Chicago Cubs!!!

But let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! I’m ridin’ hard for the Cubs not for the darn Cubs bruh! But for all the duns that I grew up with, my late father-n-law and my son who absolutely LOVE the Cubs! I grew up in “The G!” That’s Gary, Indiana for y’all that’s checkin’! For you boyz that are geographically challenged it’s literally 10 minutes from the southside of Chicago and about 35 minutes from Wrigleyville.

I’ve spent my entire life askin’ boyz “why are you rootin’ for the Cubs? They lose all of the time!” However, I would get the same response almost to a person. “That’s my team bruh and I’m stickin’ with them.” I can remember my late neighor that grew up across the alley from me named Jerome “Bubba” Rickets. This cat would watch the Cubs everyday durin’ our childhood. We’d have to sit on his back porch and literally wait until the Cubs went off because he wouldn’t come outside until they went off. And we all knew that they were gonna lose because they were the darn Cubs!!

I couldn’t name a single cat on the roster right now but I can rattle off the old school Cubs I’ll tell you that. If the startin’ line up ran up on me right now and robbed me at gun point I couldn’t tell you who they were. But I can tell you who Bill Buckner, Rick Reuschel, Fergie Jenkins, Ryne Sandberg, Ron Cey and Ernie Banks were. Why? Because you couldn’t live in the Chicagoland area and not know who they were. They came on TV everyday and there weren’t but 6 channels; 2 (CBS), 5 (NBC), 7 (ABC), 9 (WGN), 11 (PBS) and 32 (WFLD)! The Cubs played on WGN bruh! If the cartoons weren’t on durin’ the day the Cubs were.

My father-n-law, from the time I started datin’ his daughter to the time of his death watched the Cubs everyday and apparently everyday before I even met him. Before my son was old enough to go to school he stayed with his grandfather durin’ the day and he would sit on the end of his bed and watch the Cubs. So now he’s a diehard fan! He’s a sophomore in college now and I’ve spent his entire life askin’ him the same Cubs question. Why do you cheer for a team that never wins because it doesn’t make sense son? His response has been the same his entire life. “We’re gonna win next year! Next year is our year!”

Please understand that there are old timers in the Chi and the surroundin’ areas that have lived an entire lifetime without seein’ the Cubs win anything. They haven’t won a championship in 108 years bruh. That means that there is a cat sittin’ somewhere on the southside in a nursing home that is 100 years old that  has watched the Cubs with his father or grandfather that has been sayin’ “We’re gonna win next year” his entire freakin’ life.

I wanna see the Cubs win for those people. I could give two dead flies smashed about the duns playin’ for the team right now because they don’t understand the significance of what they’re doin’ because they’re kids and just happened to get drafted by or traded to the team. So they’re just playin’ the game.

I want to see the tears of joy runnin’ down the faces of the delusional Cubs fans that have been in the ride with their seat belts fastened for 40 and 50 years with these boyz. I’ve got no respect for the duns that are pullin’ hamstrings right now tryin’ to jump on the bandwagon to claim some type of loyalty. Naw bruh, if you weren’t ridin’ with these boyz when they stunk don’t try to get in the ride now.

Baseball is unwatchable to me bruh so I’m not goin’ to lie to you and tell you that I’m watchin’ a full game. I’m just keepin’ up with the scores and pullin’ for my family and friends to finally be able to celebrate.  For those that have passed away before their team actually won anything. I’m thinkin’ of them.

It’s almost like seein’ the tears of joy that my mother and other old black folks had when Barack Obama was elected president. She grew up in the segregated south in the 1940’s and ’50’s where it wasn’t even imaginable to begin to think that a black man would finally become president. Well, if you’ve been a Cubs fan for 40 or 50 years you thought the same thing about them. Now boyz can taste it and I want to see them finally sit down and eat. Go Cubs!! And stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Spit: verb – to say

2) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

3) Put it where the goats can get it: verb phrase – to make it as elementary as possible. To put it at ground level so everyone can understand it.
