Purdue outlasts Michigan in a shootout at Mackey Arena to win 16th Straight! “NUTS!!!”

"Oh, we got this playboy!" Michael Conroy, AP

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN– The Purdue Boilermakers are still out here takin’ boyz sneakers and jewelry but on Thursday night it wasn’t so easy to run up on the Michigan Wolverines and take theirs. They were involved in a shootout in the projects in the second half before they were able to walk out of the joint with a 92-88 win.

The Boilermakers (20-2, 9-0 Big Ten) have now won 16 straight for the first time in 30 years and only the fourth time in school history. They’re on a 20 game home-court winnin’ streak and they’re on an 11 game conference winnin’ streak. Matt Painter’s bunch is 9-0 in conference play for the first time in the NCAA Tournament era. So in other words, this team in floatin’ around in rare air. That’s NUTS!!!!

Led by Vincent Edwards’ 30 point barrage, which was a career high for him, Purdue stood it’s ground as Michigan jumped out of the whip ready to scrap in the second half. Alex Haas was NOT playin’ with these boyz as he jumped out of the ride with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Carson Edwards dropped off an easy 13.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Both teams were shootin’ the lights out of the gym bruh. By the 7:10 mark of the second half Michigan was still shootin’ 77 percent from the field and Purdue was knockin’ ‘um down at 80 percent!!! They both were nailin’ threes at a clip of at least 75 percent!! Wheredeydodatat?

The Boilermakers finished the game shootin’ 62 percent from the field and 55 percent from behind the arc.

Either both teams were unconscious or neither one decided to play defense? You be the judge of that playa because at one point durin’ the second half there were 13 consecutive lead changes. Now don’t get it twisted, it was a great game to watch but somebody had to make a stop.

Well…the Purdue Boilermakers finally got some stops down the stretch to get out of the joint alive. It was a fantastic ball game to watch but probably a stressful game to coach. I bet ole Matt Painter and Co. are sleepin’ in this mornin’. He’s probably still got his suit on, tie and all, layin’ on the livin’ room couch. I was exhausted watchin’ it.

I ran into one of the Purdue assistants on Monday at the Indianapolis City Championship Game and told him that I thought that they had the best TEAM in the country. His response was, “Thanks bruh but we’re takin’ this thing one game at a time.” Great attitude to have to go along with a great ball club with excellent team chemistry. Stop me when I start lyin’!

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
