Not since Joe Tiller walked the sidelines at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette has there been this type of buzz in the air for Purdue Football! Boyz haven’t been this excited at the mention of the Boilermakers runnin’ out of the field in a long time.
Well playas…after Saturday’s marathon that turned into an instant classic the Purdue faithful have to be goin’ NUTS over what new head coach Jeff Brohm brings to the table. After bein’ down most of the ball game the Boilermakers walked out of the joint with a 31-17 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Under normal Boilermaker circumstances they would have pulled the curtains, folded the tent and went to the crib with a loss after trailin’ all game long, not to mention havin’ an 88 minute weather delay to go with it.
They turned the darn ball over four times in the first half and was down 14-6 with essentially no hope of turnin’ that thing around. They eventually went up 16-14 but the Gophers sat on the rock burnin’ more than 7 and a half minutes off of the clock before nailin’ a 38 yard field goal to go up 17-16 with 2:26 to go.
Like I said before, under normal Boilermaker circumstances they would have taken the “L” and gone to the crib but not this team. DJ Knox took the ensuin’ kickoff 44 yards to set up great field position and Markell Jones scored four plays later. The two-point conversion put them up 24-17.
Then Ja’Whaun Bentley put the cherry on top with a 76 yard pick six to send Big Momma home smilin’. Under normal circumstances Big Momma would have been just happy to see her baby play but this ain’t normal circumstances playboy. This is the new and improved version of the Purdue Boilermakers under the leadership of the good head coach Jeff Brohm thanks for comin’ out. Stop me when I start lyin’!
