Maxwell, the famous author, broke it down like this, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” Then John Quincy Adams put it where the goats could get it when he spit, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”
Well playas…LeBron James has once again shown the world that he’s a leader that folks can count on to speak out when things are goin’ haywire in America. On Tuesday at his Annual Family Reunion charitable event at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio ole boy said,“I know there’s a lot of tragic things happening in Charlottesville. I just want to speak on it right now. I have this platform and I’m somebody that has a voice of command, and the only way for us to be able to get better as a society and us to get better as people is love.”
He went on to say, “And that’s the only way we’re going to be able to conquer something at the end of the day. It’s not about the guy that’s the so-called president of the United States, or whatever the case. It’s not about a teacher that you don’t feel like cares about what’s going on with you every day. It’s not about people that you just don’t feel like want to give the best energy and effort to you. It’s about us. It’s about us looking in the mirror. Kids all the way up to the adults. It’s about all of us looking in the mirror and saying, ‘What can we do better to help change?’ And if we can all do that and give 110 percent … then that’s all you can ask for. So, shoutout to the innocent people in Charlottesville and shoutout to everybody across the world that just want to be great and just want to love. Thank you, and I love you all.”

LeBron is the biggest name in professional sports right now and will probably go down as the greatest all-around basketball player we’ve ever seen. Now whether you agree with that statement or not would be up for debate at a later date. My point is that he’s one of the most powerful influencers we’ve ever seen for the game of basketball and he’s not afraid to use that power in the face of foolishness in America.
However, duns all over this country in the suburbs, rural America and yes, even in ANY HOOD, USA boyz love to hate him. However, durin’ times of crises in America he’s typically the only athlete or former athlete of major influence that ever has the guts to say a word about the injustices that we as black folks experience in this country. From speakin’ out durin’ the Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Philando Castile situations gun violence etc. Ole boy hasn’t disappeared on us.
Where’s the dun that everybody and their baby’s momma worship around this piece when there’s turmoil in America? Where’s Michael Jordan? As a matter of fact, where has Jordan been for the past 33 years in America? Besides last summer when he split the baby in half and kept it movin’ givin’ a million each to the NAACP Defense Fund and the Institute for Community-Police Relations.
Other than that I’ll tell you where he’s been playa. Somewhere with his head stuck in the sand hidin’ from the responsibility of usin’ his influence to help bring change to America.
Duns like Charles Barkley, Shaq, Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, Ray Lewis and others have completely “souled” Colin Kaepernick out when he was simply standin’ up for the well bein’ of black folks and police brutality.
I can’t tell folks who to love but if you were a kid at school and every time a problem popped off your father, uncle or older brother that had more influence or power of voice than you did always came up missin’ when you needed them. You wouldn’t have very much respect for them now would you?
So why is it that boyz continue to give Jordan crazy love and he’s proven over and over again that he cares nothin’ about black folks. He cares only about the “Jordan folks” and sellin’ you some darn made over shoes that he was sellin’ boyz 20 years ago.
Like him or not LeBron is ALWAYS at the forefront speakin’ out against the foolishness in America and he’s constantly visible in our communities. When a man commits $41 million to send more than 1,100 kids to college you’ve got to respect his hustle and the love he has for his community. When a man stands up in the face of turmoil and speaks with conviction about what’s wrong you’ve got to respect him. When a man that has it all stands in front of people that he doesn’t have to stand in front of and says the things that he said on Tuesday night he must be respected.
Where’s Jordan bruh? Somewhere playin’ golf and sellin’ shoes not carin’ one bit about what’s goin’ on in America because in his mind White Supremacists buy shoes too. Stop me when I start lyin’!
