Not only did Peyton deserve a statue but he deserved an ENTIRE city block too! “Bare Hands”

On Saturday afternoon the Indianapolis Colts immortalized the greatest quarterback in franchise history and believe it or not there were some duns on the street still hatin’. Now you would think that, at the very least, in this city that everybody and their baby’s momma would be in agreement that ole boy should be immortalized with a statue but you’ve always got some bonafide haters in the crowd.

Duns were questionin’ his worth like they hadn’t watched this cat ball out from 1997 to 2010. He lost the 2011 season due to the neck surgery but you can’t question the value of Peyton Manning in Indianapolis not only as a football player but as the cat that essentially built this city!!

He not only deserved a freakin’ statue but he deserves an entire city block and a museum to go along with it.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! I moved to Naptown in 1998 one year after Peyton was drafted. There was absolutely nothin’ to do here relative to most places I’ve been in America. Downtown was a freakin’ ghost town after 5pm and on weekends it was even worse.

When the Colts started winnin’ behind the machine that was Peyton Manning everybody with a business downtown started gettin’ paid. Every restaurant and bar with a darn license owes their success to Peyton “freakin'” Manning.

I can remember when the dun signed the 5 year deal worth $90 million in the summer of 2011. There were a lot of cats up in arms about him takin’ that much bread because they simply didn’t understand the dynamics of how this thing works. Peyton could have hit them up for much more cash than that but he was a G about it.

Ole boy had the opportunity to become the highest paid player in the league but opted out of takin’ all of the money and runnin’. He decided to take less so that the team could have room to sign other key players like Joseph Addai, Melvin Bullitt and Adam Vinatieri. Remember that?

Here’s what he had to say at the time, “You take a look at things and what’s potentially going to happen, and I realized that I’ve got to have these guys around me. I’ve had that title, if you will, for the past seven years and I appreciate Bill (Polian) and Jim (Irsay) doing that seven years ago. I did everything I could to play like it, and I think there is an extra responsibility that comes with it. If they’re going to pay you like the highest-paid player, you better play like it.”

And play like it he did…after signin’ his contract in 2004, the Colts didn’t miss the playoffs. Manning won three MVP awards and led the Colts to two AFC titles and one Super Bowl title. At the time he held NFL records for most MVP Awards (four) and most regular-season wins in a decade (115).

So let me get this straight bruh. Not only did the dun win like crazy but he revitalized downtown Indianapolis with his bare hands. Have you been to the Circle City over the past 15 years? Everybody and their baby’s momma is livin’ downtown now when 20 years ago there wasn’t a soul livin’ downtown. Every bar and restaurant you can think of is open down there now and they’re open past 9pm too. Credit Peyton Manning for all of that homeboy.

Did I mention that there’s a darn Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent named after him too and it’s not because he could play some football either. He’s put major bread into it and is dedicated to it’s mission.

If anybody deserves to be immortalized with a statue in front of Lucas Oil Stadium it would be Peyton Manning because he built that too. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) G: noun – gangsta, a person that’s real about his mission.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
