New Albany’s Romeo Langford too much for Silver Creek

Indianapolis-Romeo Langford finished with a game high 35 points and 7 rebounds as the Bulldogs of New Albany get a win over Silver Creek 73-65 at Bankers Life Field house this afternoon.

The three point line was home for both teams in the first half. New Albany shot 7 of 10 in the first half as they tried to contain the Dragons who shot 6 of 7.

The bench played well to outscore the Bulldogs 14 to 6 in the first half. They were led by the freshman of Silver Creek Trey Kauffman. The Dragons go on to outscore the Bulldogs 18 to 15 with the momentum going into half time.

The start of the second half was a different story. New Albany started with a 11-2 run.  The No.5 player in the country, Langford, showed up in the third quarter with 16 points outscoring Silver Creek by himself 16 to 15.

Silver Creek did all they could to keep up with New Albany. At the 2:46 mark in the third quarter New Albany was shooting 78 percent from three and 63 percent from the field while Silver Creek was 85 percent from three and 60 percent from three. The junior Zane Gross led the way for the Dragons with 15 points, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds.

Starting guard for New Albany, Sean East, helped the Bulldogs with his court vision and versatility with 16 points and 5 assists. Also Julien hunter finished with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

While the three point line was hot, Romeo Langford was just too much for the Dragons. Langford’s performance pushed him into the top 10 all time for scoring in the state of Indiana passing James Blackmon, Jr. Though it will be tough for him to become the all-time leader it will still be very exciting to see him play the rest of the season.
