Michael Vick was spot on about Kaepernick’s fro but didn’t articulate it well. “Watchin'”

On Monday Michael Vick was a guest on FS1’s, “Speak For Yourself.” Boyz asked him his thoughts on Colin Kaepernick and his job search and what advice he would give him? Vick put it where the goats could get it by sayin’:

“First thing we’ve got to get Colin to do is cut his hair. Listen, I’m not up here to try to be politically correct. Even if he puts cornrows in there. I don’t think he should represent himself in that way in terms of just the hairstyle. Just go clean-cut. You know, why not? You’re already dealing with a lot of controversy surrounding this issue. The most important thing that he needs to do is just try to be presentable.”

Social Media immediately went nuts and I even saw several black journalists, who shall remain nameless, that should know better, goin’ in on Vick for his comments. Duns were like, “Oh so if he gets a fade that would help his chances of gettin’ a job?”

Well playas…let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! The first piece of advice I would give Kaepernick is the same advice that my parents gave me! “Never walk away from bread that you’ve already earned bruh!” Everybody and their baby’s momma keeps talkin’ about the dun bein’ blackballed as the primary reason why he isn’t on a roster. That is 100 percent true. However, ole boy put himself in that situation when he walked away from a $14.5 million GUARANTEED contract for the 2017 season with the 49ers!!!

So the first piece of advice I’d give him is to learn how to make good decisions when it comes to money. He wouldn’t be out here lookin’ for a darn job if he’d kept the freakin’ one that he already had. Then his hairstyle wouldn’t be an issue. That’s first things first bruh in my Notorious B.I.G. voice!

Secondly, let’s address what Vick tried to break down but didn’t fully articulate. Kaepernick protested something that I was completely fine with. He was protestin’ the killings of unarmed black men and women by police officers that have yet to be fired, indicted, charged or convicted of these crimes. So I had no problem with what he did. Of course, because he’s standin’ up for the rights of people that look like me. Why would I have a problem with it?

However, he upset the status quo or the masses, if you will, because his protest meant absolutely nothin’ to them because the people that look like most of them weren’t affected at all. Therefore, instead of focusin’ on the “reason” for the protest most folks, includin’ the owners, focused on him kneelin’ and not the reason WHY he was kneelin’. So 99.9999 percent of people you would ask, includin’ the owners, how they felt about the protest would tell you that he disrespected the flag and the military.

However, both the flag and the military represent the freedoms that we ALL should have as Americans up to and includin’ the free  speech and the right to protest. Now that would sound great if we lived in the world of what should be but we live in the world of what is.

The what is, is that ole boy suddenly started rockin’ the afro durin’ the protest as a form of protest. He was basically on some, “Ima show you that I’m black even if you don’t think I’m black.” Now white folks already saw him as bein’ black bruh. I guess he was tryin’ to prove to the brothers that he was black because there are duns that wanted to identify him as bein’ bi-racial up to that point. So rockin’ the afro was his way of identifyin’ more with bein’ black and the movement. I get it. But y’all can act like it ain’t what it is but it is what it is bruh. And again, I’ve got no problem with him doin’ it because 90 percent of reality is perception.

However, now that you’ve got to ask the very people that you upset with the protest for a job. You can’t show up with the same look you had when you performed the very protest that they didn’t like. I’m not sayin’ that it’s right I’m just tellin’ you what it is. The people that you upset are still in charge of who gets hired and who doesn’t playboy. So yes, image is everything especially if you’re black in America.

Why do you think that they tell cats that are on trial to clean themselves up when they go before the judge and the jury. You can’t have the same look that you had when you committed the crime. Why? Because you’re at the mercy of the court. They’ve got your future in their hands.

Sure, Kaepernick committed no crime here but the concept is the same. The owners have Kaepernick’s future as a football player in the NFL in their hands. They are both the judge and the jury in this case. There’s no way around it bruh.

Sure, we’ve come along way but we still don’t own these major corporations and if you want a job you’ve got to play by the rules that we didn’t come up with. I’ve been in Corporate America for 27 years and image is everything. You can’t show up to a major job interview rockin’ a fro. You can’t show up with tattoos on your neck, hands and face either especially if you’re black.

Now you can listen to all of these knuckleheads on social media that have yet to venture into the REAL world tellin’ you to “keep your fro and be who you are” if you want to and you’ll be sittin’ next to them watchin’ the game.

Again, I didn’t make the rules playboy, I just live by them because I like to eat, live and drive good. I’ve got no problem with what Kaepernick did by kneelin’ because it was admirable. However, we wouldn’t even be havin’ this discussion if he hadn’t walked away from $14.5 million that he’d already earned. For that he gets an F for decision makin ‘. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Put it where the goats can get it: verb phrase – to make it as elementary as possible. To put it at ground level so everyone can understand it.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
