M.I.C. Preview: Pike Red Devils look to culture change to turn things around! “Accountability”

"The grind never ends! Dedicate yourself to the process!"

As boyz open trainin’ camp for the 2017 Indiana High School Football Season we’re hollerin’ at the cats in one of the best leagues in the country, the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference, better known to all the real playas as the M.I.C.!! Since 2001, a team from this conference has won the highest class state championship EVERY year except for 2010 when Fishers won it. It’s not a game out here bruh!!

So on Wednesday evenin’ I had a chance to visit with the Pike Red Devils led by head coach Jimmy Graves! They’re comin’ off of a disappointin’ 2016 campaign where they were winless at 0-10 but are lookin’ to a culture change of player accountability to help turn things around. Coach Graves had great things to say about their transformation durin’ the offseason. Check out what he has to say about his football team:

His players will be holdin’ one another accountable this season and committin’ themselves to becomin’ not only great football players but a great team. The Red Devils are excited about havin’ a new defensive coordinator this year in Rodney Deckard. That should breathe new life into the defensive side of the ball led by senior linebacker E.J. Williams. Ole boy is the real deal and I’m not just talkin’ to be talkin’ playa. He’s already got three Division 1 offers on the table from Syracuse, Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan. Oh…he’s the real deal alright!!

The offense will be led by senior quarterback Jordan Garrett, who will take most of the snaps and his back up will be sophomore Jasen Graves who will see significant playin’ time. Cameron Peterson, also a senior, will be totin’ the rock, like the old timers used to say, again this season. He rushed for darn near 1000 yards in 2016 and can’t wait to pick up where he left off.

The wide receiver corp is solid with six cats that can go! Four of them had significant playin’ time last season.

Don’t sleep on these boyz because they struggled a year ago. Everything is brand new in 2017 and what happened last fall has no effect on the the upcomin’ season. Not accordin’ to the attitude in the buildin’ at Pike!! It’s like Chris Brown up in that piece!! “It’s On and Poppin’!”

Accordin’ to Max Prep the Pike program is still the 14th ranked program in the state. Why? Because they’ve got crazy talent year end and year out, the coachin’ staff is dedicated to winnin’ and the facilities are NUTS!!! It’s the MIC playboy!

The Red Devils open up at Zionsville on 8/18 like Tupac with “All Eyes On Me!” In my Bart Scott voice, “Can’t Wait!!!” Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

3) All Eyes On Me: noun – double album by Tupac

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”

The caption under the photo isn’t real but its real talk!
