The North Central Panthers have gone through some rough patches over the past several years havin’ some winless seasons and only winnin’ one ball game in 2016. Well playas…that’s about to end real quick! Why? Because boyz finally got tired of losin’ at a program that was once one of the best in the state. It had the student body, the facilities and most importantly, the talent to compete at a high level in the MIC. They were just missin’ the most important piece of the puzzle, a coach that was bout that life. What life? That winnin’ life playa!
So they jumped on I-65 and headed north to swoop up Lafayette Central Catholic’s Kevin O’Shea this past spring. He’s one of the best coaches breathin’ and they had to have him. While at Central Catholic his teams were darn near unstoppable.
Let me put it where the goats can get it bruh. In nine seasons he went 114-10 and he won five Class A state championships! You didn’t read that wrong playa. He won five Class A titles in nine years. Wheredeydodatat? And please don’t give me that, “He wasn’t playin’ anybody crap.” Winnin’ is winnin’ bruh!!
So it’s safe to say that North Central is OFFICIALLY on the come up. All duns have to do is believe in the process.
I had a chance to sit down with coach O’Shea to talk to him about how excited he is to get this thing kicked off in 2017. Also about havin’ the opportunity to turn this ship around on the north side of town. Check it out:
O’Shea really emphasized the fact that he’s brought in some quality assistant coaches to help turn this ship around. He brought Mark Brown with him as his offensive coordinator who had been with him for six years up at Central Catholic. Then he grabbed ole Jimmy Pappas from Chatard to work with him as his defensive coordinator. Havin’ those types of quality coaches will help O’Shea build a winnin’ culture where there hasn’t been one in years.
Turnin’ the ship around is always easiest when you’ve got some horses and coach O’Shea definitely has inherited some of those. His offense will be led by first year startin’ quarterback, Liam Thompson, a 6’0″ 175-pound junior that he believes can get it done. Cole McGuire will move to the slot after bein’ the two year starter at quarterback. They’ve got a senior thunder cat at runnin’ back by the name of George Stokes that can tote the rock. Get this, the kid is 6’0″ 195-pounds and he can go.
The defense will be led by the stud, DJ Johnson at corner, who’s been offered by everybody and their Uncle Man-Man nem. Ole boy has literally about 30 offers to his credit but has narrowed them down to Iowa and Notre Dame. But like coach said in the tape above, Ohio State hollered at him on Sunday night too. That’s a good problem to have playboy.
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Now that North Central has the leadership from an excellent coachin’ staff that’s a bout that life. I’m VERY interested to see the turn around of the North Central Panthers in 2016. Duns better not show up to play them thinkin’ about gettin’ an easy win this year or in the foreseeable future. Why?
