Lawrence Central shows a lot of character as they overcome Center Grove 14-12!

Makin’ my way around the MIC I picked the perfect night to hang out with the homie’s over at Lawrence Central. The No.5 Bears hosted the “War Horse,” Carson Steele, and the No. 4 Center Grove Trojans for the Homecomin’ festivities. After the smoke cleared from all of the fireworks on and off the field. LC walked outta the joint with the “W” 14-12 but it didn’t come easily playboy. They had to fight tooth and nail for it.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Center Grove seemed to be in control of this one as they jumped on top of these boyz 10-0 late into the second quarter. Donyell Meredith and Co. couldn’t get the offense hummin’ like it normally does. They were able to move the ball but couldn’t take advantage of opportunities like they usually do.

Then the dun that makes my All-Uniform Team EVERY week, defensive back Manny Bellamy stepped in front of a Jackson Moore pass just before the break for a 45 yard pick six on a boy to make it a ball game goin’ into the half 10-7 Center Grove.

Durin’ the second half Center Grove once again controlled the tempo of the game ridin’ the “War Horse” who finished the night with 29 carries for 117 yards. Don’t forget that Carson Steele is only 14 years old bruh! That’s NUTS!!!

However, Coach Peebles and the rest of the Lawrence Central faithful kept their composure and stayed the course. With 1:55 left in the game, Donyell Meredith found his favorite receiver Donivan Wright for a 49 yard touchdown reception to go up 14-10 after the extra point was good. Meredith finished the night goin’ 16 of 25 for 176 yards and a touchdown with the lil’ homie Donivan goin’ to the crib with 6 catches for 97 yards.

They always say that you find out who a boy is in his darkest moments. Well playas…we found out that Cameron McGrone was every bit the All-American that boyz have been screamin’ that he was when he, like my grand momma used to say, “Showed up and showed out” after gettin’ beat on a pass completion that looked to be about to go the distance. Center Grove’s Sam Holt got behind the All-American, caught the rock and was headed to Big Momma’s house when McGrone ran up behind him and instead of tacklin’ ole boy he punched the rock right out and his homeboys fell on it.

LC ran the clock down to 8.7 seconds and a 4th down. So Coach Peebles pulled the ole “Run around in the backfield into the end zone and take the safety” move. That made it 14-12 with only one second left to play. They swivel kicked that joint and kept it movin’!

Great ball game by both teams! I hated to see it end but somebody had to lose it right? But you can still stop me when I start lyin’!

Here’s Cameron talkin’ about makin’ that great play!!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
