Well playas…Jeff Teague knew the way, went the way and showed the way on Monday night for the Indiana Pacers. On a night when Paul George couldn’t get out of the barn, Teague took over until ole boy found his rhythm to lead the Pacers to a 107-100 win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! The franchise player, the dun they call PG13, couldn’t hit an elephant in the butt with a base fiddle, or water if he’s fallen out of a boat until the 8:41 mark of the third quarter. He eventually finished with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 dimes despite goin’ 6 of 20 from the field. Now ole boy did show up down the stretch to score the final 7 points for Indiana to close the Jazz out.
However, if it weren’t for Teague’s leadership and the consistent play of his supportin’ cast boyz would have been in trouble. Comin’ off of a loss on Sunday and playin’ the back end of a back to back is always dicey for Indiana. They took an “L” on Sunday only to turnaround and win on Monday. For some strange reason they’ve been doin’ that since mid February. They keep tradin’ wins for losses like they’re at the flea market somewhere.
At some point they’ve got to understand that they’re sittin’ in the sixth spot in the East and they simply can’t afford to keep tradin’ wins for losses down the stretch.
Teague led the Pacers with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists as Myles turner put in solid work with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. C.J. Miles dropped off 15 on his way to Big Momma’s house and Monta Ellis came out of the bushes with his usual solid performance with 12.
Although the Pacers couldn’t seem to put these boyz away they never trailed after an early 8-0 run by the Jazz. They led the rest of the way but Utah kept the threat alive behind a MONSTER effort by Brownsburg’s own Gordon Hayward who finished the night with 38 points.
