After all of the pomp and circumstance of recruitin’ it’s finally signin’ day for high school football players that didn’t jump into the pool on December 20. There were a lot of cats that wanted to wait until the normal signin’ day so that they could weigh all of their options. Ben Davis’ Broc Thompson was one of them.

This mornin’ the 6’3″ 175 lb. stud wide receiver made it official by signin’ with Western Illinois. He’d initially committed to Ball State but de-committed and now he’s a Leatherneck.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! What blows my mind are the amount of programs that missed on this kid because in their minds he was too skinny. Yeah, I know that he’s a bit undersized but this kid was the best wide receiver comin’ out of the state. No question.

It wasn’t like he was playin’ in some Class A or 2A program playin’ against weak competition. He was playin’ in the M.I.C. which is the best conference in the state and one of the best in the nation on the best ream in the state. No, the 5th ranked team in the country. Did I mention that they won the state title goin’ away and he was the No.1 threat at receiver? Well I just did playboy.

When I tell you this kid was a beast trust what I’m sayin’ to you. There wasn’t a kid in the state that ran better routs, attacked the football in the air and did something with it better than Broc Thompson. Do you hear me? The dun finished the season with more than 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns. Ole boy broke EVERY receivin’ record at Ben Davis high school. He was clearly the best all around receiver in the state. I’ve written multiple Hot Joints about him. I’m not tellin’ you what I heard. I’m tellin’ you what I know.

Western Illinois has no idea what they just got or maybe they do but either way they’ve got something special.

Most people want to know why I’m ridin’ so hard for this kid. Well playas…I’m in the car with him because he’s been able to do all of that after overcomin’ bein’ mistreated by other kids as a child. God made him special. So he’s given God special back.

Broc was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata when he was just six months old. It’s a type of hair loss that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, which is where hair grows. The experts don’t know why it occurs but in rare instances it does. People with Alopecia Areata have patches of their hair fall out while it grows in other spots.

So as you can imagine, a young Broc was teased and talked about as a kid and was constantly made to feel inferior. You know the drill bruh. Kids can be mean and it was tough for a young cat to make sense of it all. Ole boy was always athletic because he possessed the DNA from a father that was a Major League Baseball player.

However, just because you’ve got the DNA doesn’t mean that you’re goin’ to be great. Greatness comes from bein’ delusional enough to believe that you can be whatever you desire to be and then bein’ aggressive enough to go after it. DNA can’t make up for desire and work ethic and fortunately Broc had both.

So when boyz out here on this recruitin’ trail consistently doubted his ability to play for their programs he was accustomed to people doubtin’ him and found the program that was all in on Broc Thompson. Accordin’ to his parents Ryan and Charon, the coaches at Western Illinois truly wanted their son and that’s why he decided sign with them. They were genuine in their approach and it was a natural fit.

So congratulations to Western Illinois for bein’ able to swoop up a stud that most boyz slept on. We all know around here that Broc Thompson will show out at WIU. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
