Indiana makes alumni proud durin’ homecoming weekend! “Time”

"At some point we're gonna get a win against one of these boyz!"

Pope John Paul XIII once said, “Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.” Winston Churchill gave it to us like this, “Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.” Then Confucius broke it down so that it would forever be broken when he spit, “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.”

Well playas…buildin’ a program from the ground up takes some time and Kevin Wilson at Indiana is doin’ just that. On Saturday his Hoosiers made Indiana alumni like myself proud on a homecoming weekend. They were down 17-0 in the first quarter against an undefeated Nebraska team and never gave up. Sure, they eventually lost the ball game 27-22 but they didn’t just give a boy their sneakers and jewelry.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Indiana has been trash for years! Ever since the dull boosters and alumni got greedy and pushed Bill Mallory out of the ride like ole Eddie Kane Jr. in the Five Heartbeats in 1996. Mallory had the Hoosiers rollin’ annually winnin’ enough games to consistently be in a bowl game on New Years Eve or New Years Day!

Keep in mind playa that back in the late ’80’s there were only like 10 bowl games so EVERYBODY didn’t go to a bowl like they do now. IU was winnin’ 8 or 9 games a year!! When I was a student at IU from 1987 to 1990 boyz were relevant!! They were in the top 25 every year. Then boyz runnin’ the program got greedy just like the duns up in West Lafayette did when they got rid of Joe Tiller as I explained in the Hot Joint last week entitled “Deuces” .

You’re already workin’ at a disadvantage coachin’ at a place like Indiana because you have NO history or tradition to sell a boy that you’re recruitin’. So when you see them play the No.2 ranked team in America on the road in Columbus tough and then turn around and play another undefeated team in Nebraska with crazy intensity the followin’ week you’ve got to be proud of what Kevin Wlison is buildin’ at Indiana.

However, you’ve got to give him time to build the joint. Yes, he’s been there 5 years but he’s makin’ crazy progress with the program. They would have gotten blasted in both of those games in the past. If they had gotten down 17-0 in the first quarter they would have folded up like some cheap lawn chairs and gotten the brakes beaten off of them. Now they are competin’ for 4 quarters.

In a year or two they’ll be winnin’ some of those games bruh! It’s Indiana for cryin’ out loud. You’re never goin’ to have better players than Ohio State and Michigan. However, you can easily compete with everybody else in the Big Ten in terms of talent and wins and losses. And from time to time you can catch the Buckeyes and Wolverines sleepin’ and knock them off too. Like every 20 years bruh, don’t get it twisted.

What it’s goin’ to take is Indiana believin’ in Wilson to continue to grow and develop the program. In other words, give that dun all the time he needs and he’ll build a winnin’ culture. And winnin’ culture doesn’t mean winnin’ the Big Ten or even competin’ to win that joint. Winnin’ at Indiana is winnin’ 6 or 7 games a years consistently and goin’ to a dull bowl game EVERY year. That’s it. If you expect anymore than that you’re a fool. Why? Because it’s INDIANA! Stop me when I start lyin’!

  1. It really is extremely intriguing subject you’ve written here..The truth I’m not related to this, but I think can be a excellent opportunity to learn much more about, And as properly speak about a different topic to which I used to speak with others
