Hamilton Heights (Tenn) comes into town and gives No.1 North Central the business! “No Answers”

Hamilton Heights came into the joint and just took over! Crazy offense and swarmin' defense! Photo: TheJayGravesReport

Everybody and their baby’s momma had been talkin’ about the upcomin’ match up between No.1 North Central Lady Panthers and the No.1 (accordin’ to ESPN) in the country Hamilton Heights Lady Hawks over at the Holiday Jam on Friday!!! I couldn’t wait to get into the joint. I’ve seen what North Central has been doin’ to girlz so I wanted to see just how good they really were nationally.

Y’all know the drill. I like to get into the spot about an hour and a half early just so I can see what the teams look like just chillin’ out. When I walked in I saw my lill’ homie Rikki Harris (Ohio State commit and just a junior) stretched out on the floor gettin’ ice on her legs and listenin’ to some music like real hoopers do. She’s the real deal.

Then I spotted their talented point guard Savaya Brockington that’s also a junior. She pushes the rock like no other  around this piece. Okay so I know I’m in the right gym because I’ve spotted the two North Central studs that make it go.

Where’s this group of girlz they call Hamilton Heights? I keep makin’ my way across the gym and see them sittin’ behind one of the baskets. They’re just chillin’, looks like a hoop squad but nothin’ blows me away because they’re sittin’ down. At the end of the third quarter of the Rock Island vs. Pike game everybody starts to stand up to go to the locker room to get ready for this juggernaut I came to see!!

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! When they stood up! Bruh…they kept standin’ up!! They had six players that were 6’1″ or taller and they looked every bit of studs!!! Now this is comin’ from a cat that hasn’t seen them play. I’m only understandin’ at this point that they are ranked 17th in America and are loaded with talent but I’m like Missouri bruh. You’ve got to show me!

They had a young lady, Kamilla Cardoso, that was 6’7″!!! So I open the program and see that she’s just a sophomore. I say to myself, “She’s too tall to be that young. So she’s probably goin’ to be awkward in movin’ around and gettin’ up and down the floor like guys that are extremely tall do at a young age.” Then I see a kid named Treasure Hunt that’s a sophomore that’s 6’2″. I say to myself, “With a name like that she’s probably goin’ to be a superstar because that’s a name for somebody famous.” Don’t trip bruh, that’s just how my mind works.

Treasure Hunt played with so much swag!

I look at them warmin’ up and I look at North Central warmin’ up and say, “North Central’s goin’ to have to out-work them in order to beat them and they’re goin’ to have to shoot the ball EXTREMELY well.

Well playboy….they tipped off and North Central was scrappin’ their butts off in the first quarter. Hustlin’ like crazy and keepin’ the joint close. As usual, there’s no answer for the lil’ homie Rikki Harris because a ball playa is a ball playa is a ball playa. So after one quarter we’ve got a barn burner on our hands and it’s what I came to see. Then mid way through the second quarter Rikki goes down with an injury and North Central at that point has zero offense, zero attitude and zero answer for the talented sophomores from Chattanooga.

Cardoso at 6’7″ is playin’ like she’s been playin’ high school basketball her entire life! She’s reboundin’ not because she’s taller than everybody else but because she’s fightin’ for the basketball. I’ve been coverin’ the Indiana Pacers for the past seven season and I saw Roy Hibbert take the floor at 7’2” on many occasions and walk off of it with ZERO rebounds because of a lack of effort.

So just because you’re taller than everyone else doesn’t mean that you’re comin’ out of the joint with rebounds. Reboundin’ the ball is EFFORT alone and Kamilla was out-hustlin’ girlz for the rock and she knew how to give it up or put it back once she got he hands on it. That’s coachin’ right there!! Salute to Keisha Hunt for doin’ a helluva job of preparin’ her players.

It was unbelievable the way they moved the ball. Then the other sophomore, Treasure Hunt, completely took over the game!!! There was no answer for her. She could do it all and before I knew it the No.1 team in Indiana was gettin’ the brakes beaten off of them and the final score was 62-34.

I sure would have loved to see this game play out with Rikki healthy. Now on some real talk, as talented as Hamilton Heights was they probably would have eventually pulled away anyway but it would have been more competitive for a longer period of time with Rikki on the floor. Why? Because  she’s a warrier and the team wouldn’t have just fallen apart like that with her on the floor.

Salute to the young ladies from Chatt because they’ve got to be the best girlz high school hoop team I’ve seen in a very long time, if not ever. Here’s the reason I say that bruh. Their best players are sophomores!!! That means that somebody has to deal with them for the next two and a half years!! That’s NUTS!!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Rock: noun – ball

2) Piece: noun – this place that we’re standin’ in

3) Put it where the goats can get it: verb phrase – to make it as elementary as possible. To put it at ground level so everyone can understand it.

4) Ole girl: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
