On Monday afternoon five star point guard and two-time Mr. Basketball in Tennessee, Darius Garland, from Nashville’s Brentwood Academy signed with Vanderbilt over duns like Kentucky, UCLA and Indiana. Ole boy averaged 23.4 points, 3.9 rounds and 2.1 steals per game last season as he lead his team to a 30-2 record and their third consecutive TSSAA Division II-AA state title.

Here’s what the young thunder cat had to say about choosin’ Vandy over the others.

“This was the best fit for me and my family. I can have the best of both worlds in academics and basketball at Vanderbilt. Someday the ball will stop bouncing and I want to prepare myself for that situation. My family put me in position to be successful so I want them to see me play as much as possible.”

Well playboy…you’ve got to respect his hustle. If he and his family are happy with his choice then everybody watchin’ has to be cool with it too. Everybody and their baby’s momma want to tell a boy where to go to school and none of these cats tellin’ him where to go really care if he goes to school.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Every IU, Kentucky or UCLA fan that out here talkin’ reckless about this kid today was kissin’ his butt 24 hours ago. Now that he’s decided to go to school where he wants to go. You’re throwin’ shade at him and blastin’ him on Twitter like he was obligated to be your source of entertainment for the next two or three years. Grow up bruh!!!

It blows my mind how everybody thinks that they have a say in where some kid decides to go to school when none of them really care if he ever graduates or ever goes to class. They just wanna see the dun run up and down the court and win games for their favorite team.

So I’m happy that he chose to go where he wanted to go instead of fallin’ to the foolish pressure of goin’ to the traditional powers or IU.

Oh, don’t think for one minute that Indiana is an elite program playas. It’s a dumpster fire and it’s burnin’ brightly after gettin’ blasted by dull Indiana State over the weekend by 21 points at the crib. Do you really think that boyz are linin’ up to play in Bloomington after that foolishness on Friday night?

Salute to Darius and his family for doin’ it their way. I grew up with his old man Winston. He was a bad boy on the court at the Velt in the G before he went on to play in the NBA himself. I used to cut his hair in my parents basement more than 34 years ago on school nights. Much love big playa and stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
