The reason that Colin Kaepernick initially decided to protest durin’ the national anthem a year ago was to bring light to police brutality, racial and social injustice in America. Folks that are comfortable with the status quo don’t want to entertain the conversation of racism in this country. However, they will stand on the principle of patriotism and anyone that doesn’t see the world through the same prism is the enemy.
Well playas…Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker has informed boyz that he and his family has received death threats as a result of he and his teammates not participatin’ in the national anthem this past Sunday. Ole boy went to Instagram and had this to say with a photo of him greetin’ military personal.
“The racist and violent words directed at me and my son only serve as another reminder that our country remains divided and full of hateful rhetoric. These words of hate will only fuel me in my efforts to continue my work reaching out to different community groups, listening to opposing voices, and honoring the men and women of the Armed Forces who risk their lives everyday so we may have this dialogue.”
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! This is the Civil Rights Movement all over again bruh! People of color just want to be treated the same as their white neighbors in America. Most importantly, black folks don’t want to be mistreated by the very institution that has been sworn in to protect and serve them.
As a black man in America my anxiety goes from 0 to 100mph anytime a police car pulls up behind me even if it’s just sittin’ in traffic. Why? Because I’m always conscious of the risk of foolishness that can pop off if pulled over. I’m not tellin’ you what I heard, I’m tellin’ you what I know. I’ve been pulled over and guns were drawn and pointed to my head for drivin’ a darn luxury vehicle at the wrong time in the wrong neighborhood. So this is real bruh and until you’ve experience that type of foolishness you’ll never understand.
I heard Newt Gingrich on Fox News recently sayin’ that these rich athletes are screamin’ that their oppressed but the dun wants to act like money separates a black man from bein’ discriminated against and brutalized by the police. Millions of dollars, fame and fortune didn’t stop Michael Bennett from bein’ held at gun point and his life threatened in Vegas after the Mayweather fight for simply standin’ in a crowd now did it?
Not only that, the Las Vegas PD then smeared him instead of apologizin’ for treatin’ him crazy. However, boyz out here are supposed to just keep acceptin’ this type of behavior accordin’ to those that aren’t affected by this foolishness at all. It’s easy to get up and move around this country when there are no road blocks to opportunity, when there is no racism to deal with or discrimination to play with.
Black folks just want to be treated fairly. Why is that such a tragedy? Why is it a problem for people that don’t have to deal with this type of foolishness to see? It’s crazy to me that people are so against EVERYONE bein’ equal. Duns can hide behind the flag and the military all they want but they aren’t crazy.
They’ve heard the explanations as to why these players, startin’ with Kaepernick, decided to protest in the first place. People aren’t stupid, they just want the status quo just like folks did in the 1950’s and ’60’s durin’ the Civil Rights Movement. Nothin’ has changed and it’s sad.
It’s 2017 and we’re still fightin’ the same battles that my mother and father fought and their parents before them. When a man has death threats put on his life for wantin’ to be treated fairly in America you tell me where the patriotism is? Tell me where the love is? Tell me where the decency is? However, I can tell you where the racism is? It’s sad but true and you can stop me when I start lyin’!
