Erich Fromm, the German social psychologist, once said, “Selfish persons are incapable of loving others, but they are not capable of loving themselves either.” Richard Dawson, the actor and comedian, broke it down like this, “Let us try to teach generosity and altruism, because we are born selfish.” Bryant McGill, the author, put it where the goats could get it when he spit, “The world is not fair, and often fools, cowards, liars and the selfish hide in high places.”
Well playas…they don’t always hide in high places. Most of the time they’re sittin’ right next to you treatin’ you and your circumstances like trash. On Sunday unions representin’ Cleveland’s police officers and paramedics said that they refuse to hold a large U.S. flag durin’ pre-game ceremonies before the Browns home opener next Sunday.
Steve Loomis, president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association told a boy that “I am not going to participate or work with management that allows their players to disrespect the flag and the national anthem.”
They’re fired up about the twelve Browns players that kneeled durin’ the national anthem before a preseason game last month.
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! This is the type of foolishness that blows my mind bruh. Everybody wants to tell you how patriotic they are but very few people understand what it truly means to be an American. The First Amendment specifically states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
So if we all understand that then duns peaceably protestin’ police brutality and racial injustice is completely American. Therefore, when duns gets caught in their feelings when people say that some of their fellow officers are abusin’ their powers as law enforcement it’s truly a darn shame.
These cats are more willin’ to run and hide than to confront the issue of havin’ some bad cops on the force and a system of entitlement that allows them to continue to freely exist. Stop hidin’ behind the badge and hold duns accountable. Sure, I realize that all cops aren’t bad. However, I do realize that when police unions protect bad cops it makes the entire system suspect.
Don’t get mad at the Cleveland Browns for allowin’ it’s players to exercise their constitutional rights. If more police unions would start firin’ boyz for misusin’ their power regardless of what the legal system does. We wouldn’t be havin’ this asinine discussion. It first starts with accountability and holdin’ your own in check.
If the police unions keeps hidin’ boyz out then we’ll continue to have a disconnect with the very people most affected by this foolishness and we’ll continue to see boyz takin’ a knee. By ignorin’ the real problem they’re simply sayin’ that they don’t care that unarmed black folks are bein’ killed by some of their fellow officers.
So guess what playa, they don’t NEED your union to hold a darn flag durin’ the pre-game ceremonies. ANYBODY can do that! They can’t get just anybody to play the darn game. There are only so many people talented enough for people to pay that type of bread to see them play.
And please don’t hit me with the “Well we won’t provide security for the games” foolishness because they’ll always be able to find a boy in NEED of a few dollars to pick up some overtime or go get state boyz for that. Money will always be more important than followin’ the leader. Not every cop is willin’ to pass up easy money by doin’ security at the game. Stop me when I start lyin’!
