Carmel’s John Hebert did a helluva job coachin’ verses No.1 Ben Davis bruh! “Onions”

Carmel's head man John Hebert keeps puttin' in work!! I've got TALL respect for the job he continues to do. Photo: TheJayGravesReport

Most people watchin’ the game can only see the win versus the loss. They don’t have the eye to peel the onion back to see what really goes on for 48 minutes. Well playas…let’s peel the onion back on the No.6 Carmel vs. No.1 Ben Davis game on Friday night. Ben Davis won the joint 28-10 and because it was an 18 point win most cats have registered it as a blow out and moved on.

Well playas…I haven’t because I can’t stop thinkin’ about how great of a job Carmel’s head coach John Hebert did in coachin’ that game bruh! Sure, I know that they loss!! I was there coverin’ the joint and I saw him walk out on the field with a team that wasn’t anywhere near as talented as Ben Davis. As a matter of fact, he didn’t have a third of the talent BD had. Now this isn’t a slight to Carmel. Nobody is as good as Ben Davis this year. They’ve got D1 players all over the field and they ‘ve got 55 seniors!!! They can go two deep in seniors in every position on the field. Wheredeydodatat?

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Ben Davis has been beatin’ the brakes off of EVERYBODY in their path all season long. Hebert coached a helluva game just to keep them in the tail lights. They were down 7-3 and within a blink of an eye they were down 21-3 because Ben Davis can score in bunches in a matter of two or three play intervals.

Hebert had to say to himself, “I’m not about to let these duns blow us out of this joint!” I thought that Carmel was by far the most disciplined team I’ve seen all season. They played within’ themselves and made very few mistakes. They forced four turnovers and most importantly, they had a work horse to depend on.

They’ve got a sophomore running back by the name of Dylan Downing that toted the rock 32 times for 105 yards. Amazing. Now I mentioned that on Twitter and boyz started hatin’ because they don’t understand the game of football. Any cat that can tote the rock 32 times at any level of play; high school, college or pro is to be commended. Nobody carries the ball that many times. NOBODY!!! And please don’t tell me that the dun only averaged a 3 yards per carry. IT’S BEN DAVIS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! He kept the football out of their hands for most of the night you genius.

Hebert and staff figured that if Ben Davis’ offense wasn’t on the field they couldn’t score in bunches and therefore, would be incapable of puttin’ up 50 plus points on Homecomin’. That’s real talk!!!

The No.1 Giants were averagin’ darn near 50 points per game (49.3 points to be exact) comin’ into the joint. So he knew what they were capable of sprintin’ through them. Not on Hebert’s watch playa. They held BD to it’s lowest point total of the season and he kept his team’s dignity.

I know that there are no moral victories in sports but when you’re playin’ one of the best teams in the country and they’ve already embarrassed EVERYBODY on their schedule. Boyz just wanted to get outta their without gettin’ drug up and down the field.

Ben Davis beat Tech 49-7, hung a 52-20 mark on Avon, drug Pike 69-34 although the Red Devils did score 34 points on them, blasted Center Grove and Warren Central 40-7 and 45-16 respectively and sprinted through Lawrence North 41-8. So for Carmel to hold them to 28 points and force four turnovers bein’ completely outmatched in terms of talent was a helluva job of coachin’.

So big shout to Coach Hebert for puttin’ in work last Friday and bein’ able to walk outta the joint with his team’s dignity in tack.  Good luck this week homie!! I’m a big fan!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

3) Wheredeydodatat: Hood for “Who does that?”

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
