Everybody and their baby’s momma’s momma, Ms. Jackson, found their way over to Arlington on Thursday night for the “Battle of the Titans” or should I say “Tigers.” Both schools are nicknamed the Tigers. The Class 3A State Champs Crispus Attucks verses the Class A State Champs Tindley Tigers. Both cats came through highly ranked in their respective classes (4th and 8th) and ready to go. The chatter was in the air and it was now time for braggin’ rights to get thrown onto the table.

At the openin’ tip Attucks took control of the ball game jumpin’ all over them goin’ up 14-3 before Tindley’s Eric Hunter Jr. knocked down his team’s first 9 points just to let a boy know that this wasn’t that. The Purdue signee was not playin’ as he scored 18 of his game high 34 points in the first half. His homeboy Sincere McMahon put up 20 points just to keep a boy honest.

Tindley’s E-Buckets puts up a game high 34 points!

Unfortunately, Attucks’ size and strength overall kept the Class A Tigers at bay all night. The Class 3A State Champs pulled up in the Big Body Chevy bumpin’ that DJ Khaled “All I Do Is Win” joint as Harold Bennett came out of the driver’s seat with 23 points. Derrick Brisco hit ‘um up for 20 as Warren Williams dropped off 12 on his way to Big Momma’s house.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Attucks controlled the ball game until late in the third quarter when Tindley was able to knot it up at 47. They even took a 49-47 led for a hot minute but it wasn’t enough momentum in the ride to keep Attucks away.

The 3A Tigers put up 8 straight points to once again keep Tindley at a Heisman Trophy-type still arm distance.

Don’t get it twisted, even though Tindley was undersized they played a helluva ball game to keep it close enough for fans not to leave.

These are two great teams that shouldn’t run into too many problems in their respective classes durin’ the IHSAA Tournament. They should be able to get back to the State Finals barin’ injury or foolishness. Salute to the Tigers and their fans for makin’ it a great atmosphere on a cold Thursday night! Stop me when I start lyin’!

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
